Super User WRB Posted July 12, 2020 Super User Posted July 12, 2020 It's a ground loop problem. Your sonar unit is ground to the TM and need to be separated, each with it's own ground path. Tom Quote
westmdbass21502 Posted July 12, 2020 Author Posted July 12, 2020 Tom so you saying running 2 16 or 18 Guage wires to the ground side of battery one of skeg of trolling motor and fishfinder Quote
Mjmj Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 Before you go crazy running wires, try disconnecting your battery charger wire that run to the battery your unit is on. Then try. It might be back feed through your charger Quote
Super User WRB Posted July 13, 2020 Super User Posted July 13, 2020 From the photo you have a glass bass boat. You need to connect s ground wire to the trolling ground running from the TM batteries. Your TM may have the ground to the TM metal bracket that may not grounded. If the TM bracket has nylon bushings for example you may not be grounded to the water via the TM. Your OB engine shouldn't creating any interference if it isn't running. You would see interference on the console display when the OB is running if the alternator is the problem. Tom Quote
