BR1AN Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 What's a good battery that wont break the bank for a 55lb trolling motor. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted May 22, 2020 Super User Posted May 22, 2020 If you are looking for a standard lead acid battery several will do the trick. Look for RC (reserve capacity). Get the highest number in your price range. I wouldn’t go below 180 RC if it were me. 1 Quote
BR1AN Posted May 22, 2020 Author Posted May 22, 2020 I'll give them a look. I just wanna find something that will run nice for a 6-7 hour day. Quote
LonnieP Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 Everstart maxx group 29. $100 at Walmart. I've had one for 4 years and still holds a good charge. I run my 55lb motor with it all day and have never ran out of juice. 1 Quote
BR1AN Posted May 22, 2020 Author Posted May 22, 2020 Are you suppose to keep it on the charger all winter long when your not using it? Sorry for the dumb questions, all this boat and battery stuff is new to me lol. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted May 22, 2020 Super User Posted May 22, 2020 When I pack up the canoe to store it for winter - the battery comes out and goes into the basement. I top off the charge then just let it sit for the 5 months. When spring comes around, back on the charger it goes. A good battery won't drain off in a few months of sitting with nothing connected to it. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted May 22, 2020 Super User Posted May 22, 2020 Top off the battery when you store it and top off the charge monthly. 1 Quote
Super User RoLo Posted May 22, 2020 Super User Posted May 22, 2020 A cheap battery is more likely to break the bank. Roger Quote
