I just have one question, what is the best soap out there for a deep clean on a old boat? I try to keep up with it but working the overtime that I do plus home projects that needs done, I just don’t have the time I wish I had to keep the boat clean. And that doesn’t count the fishing I wish I could do...anyway thanks for your input.

We have had some threads on this topic and A-Jay recommends a product I can't recall.

I use a product from Larsens called Restore cleaner and polish but my boats gel coat is clean because I wipe it down every trip.

When I owned a glass boat, just 303.

My old runabout was glass and I used the same thing I pretty much use on everything else. Simple Green, diluted.

Forget the soap and water.  Use Boat Bling and some microfiber towels.  Spray on, wipe off.  Smells kinda funky but shines up super nice and adds a layer of protectant too.

If you have some really seriously bad stains or water skum on the hull, consider using a mild form of acid.  Just make sure you wear gloves and dispose of it properly.

I remember my introduction to Restore was at a tournament. The local rep was a bass angler and walked around the boats in the parking lot and offer to demo his product. He would spray the dirtiest area on the hull or engine and wipe it clean. The cleaned spot stood out shiny, bright and clean against the un leaned hull or engine. This was 30 years ago and I still you Restore. My 2005 white boat and black engine looks new because It's cared for.

So easy to use.

I've always just used armor all car soap and then a good coat of wax. I wipe mine down most every time when I pull it out and I've started using Lucas spray wax when I wipe it down

Problem isn't the correct product - there are plenty of correct products out there, just pick one.   Problem is time to use the product.  Your other home projects are probably more important than shining up your boat.  I have similar issues.  The way I solve the issue of cleaning my boat is I don't.   I have an Aluminum boat.   Carpet gets vacuumed every other month or so, when I start slipping on the gravel in the carpet.   Boat makes it to the car wash maybe once or twice a year.   I'm unconcerned about how my boat looks, I bought it to fish out of and at 18 years of ownership & counting I'm not that concerned about resale value.

I wonder if your boat hygiene is that important, perhaps there is some teen ager in your neighborhood who needs some extra cash and can be trusted to clean your boat with minimal supervision.   Money well spent, maybe.

A-Jay uses Lucas Slick Mist with a touch of vinegar to cut the crud.  Now I do also and boy, does the Potomac trash a hull.
