Super User gim Posted April 26, 2020 Super User Posted April 26, 2020 I upgraded from a 2014 Lowrance HDS 7 to a 2018 Lowrance HDS 7 Carbon. The question I have is when I take my mapping chip/SD card out of my old one and put it into the Carbon, will all of my old waypoints automatically show up on the Carbon? I have 5 years worth of waypoints on my old Lowrance that I want to transfer to the Carbon. Do I have to manually save all the data to my SD card in my old Lowrance, put the card into the Carbon, and then manually upload them? I simply assumed this would occur when I put the card from the old Lowance into the new one. Thanks in advance. Quote
adbassfishing Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 If you are willing to spend $15 you can transfer them with your mapping card. Navionics has a thing called Plotter Sync, which allows you to transfer markers and trails from your plotter to your phone via the Boating HD app. You have to have an active subscription with navionics (the $15). Here is more info on it: https://www.navionics.com/usa/charts/features/plotter-sync Once you have the app you should be able to sync it with your phone which would transfer the makers and trails from your old Lowrance to your phone. Then you could sync your phone to the new Lowrance and it should show all your markers. Just a warning, I haven't used this service so I can't say it there are any issues with it but it seems pretty straight forward. 1 Quote
Super User gim Posted April 28, 2020 Author Super User Posted April 28, 2020 I did a little research and on another forum, someone said I can do it with a blank micro sd card. I simply upload the old data from the previous Lowrance onto the card, place the card into the new Lowrance Carbon, and download the data into that. I'm going to attempt it tomorrow. Quote

That has been the accepted way since they started having card slots. 1 Quote
