tetragon Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 I tried disassembling and cleaning my Shimano curado 200e7. I took my time and did it carefully and it's silky smooth, but the only problem is I have a piece left over haha does anyone know where this piece goes? Quote

Basswhippa Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Many, many many reel experts leave those out. It is a backup and if it fails it will cause noise at best and cause internal damage at worst. It backs up the (anti reverse bearing ARB). If said bearing fails, you can buy another aARB. 1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Yes that’s the redundant AR. Leave it out. 2 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 How true leaving it out. I have a little plastic bag of those in my spare parts box from all the way back to my Curado 100B reels. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted April 15, 2020 Super User Posted April 15, 2020 I had no idea you could leave it out. I remember cleaning my reels the first time and i had the same thing left over and i took it back apart to put it back lol I know when i do my next cleanings i will leave it out...learn something new every day Quote

Super User new2BC4bass Posted April 15, 2020 Super User Posted April 15, 2020 You should come and work for the company I work for. Previous maintenance guy always had extra parts left over after fixing a machine. Usually just screws. Machines still ran. 1 Quote
CrankFate Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 DO NOT LEAVE IT OUT!!!! The day you hook a fish as big as a person you’ll thank me for leaving it in. Trust me. Quote

Previous maintenance guy always had extra parts left over after fixing a machine. Usually just screws. Machines still ran. Derwin had been working down at the service station for about six weeks when he got his big chance one Friday afternoon. the local high school football team was headed up the mountain for a big state playoff game that night. Coach Mullins dropped the activity bus off at noon for a trip check and oil change. Derwin’s boss said that he’d go over the rest of the bus if Derwin would do the oil change. about an hour and a half later, as Coach Mullins was pulling out of the parking lot, Derwin’s boss asked him how the oil change went. “pretty smooth”, said Derwin, “all i had leftover was this one bolt”. 1 Quote
mrpao Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 The newer reels dont even have that part anymore. They all just rely on the anti-reverse bearing. I have removed all of mine and never had an issue. Quote
