Good Morning,

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here at BR. Last fall I was down in the dumps and thinking about quitting. You all picked me up, gave me great advice, and most importantly instilled confidence in me. My first time out this spring, caught a dink but hey it's a fish! Next time out 2 or 3 dinks! Third trip out a NEW PB by an entire pound! 4.43 to 5.51!

Since then I've consistently caught at least one fish a trip (knock on wood) and am completely loving the sport again. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all!

Tight Lines,

T

That's really nice to hear T-Bone!  To some, just going fishing is the nice part but, darnit, it's nice to actually catch something once in a while too!

Then, as you learn more and more, your confidence builds and you see that you can actually make decisions that affect the outcome. And when you make those decisions that work, and you catch fish, well that's just a nice feeling of accomplishment.

The information here is endless and these are the right folks to share it.

Well done and nice to hear you didn't give up!

Great, don’t quit or give up. I remember your post. It’s fishing. Just try to reason with bad days. Try to even learn something or try something new on those days. Give something a try that you have not used in awhile. I try to maintain a level head during a real bad bite. It’s not easy.

I’ve had many many dink days. I’ll take them. On a lot of those dink day others were skunked. Many of days I’ve fished to just not get skunked. I would say a lure that has kept me from getting skunked over all the years the most has been a Rat-L-Trap.

Fishing and “the bite” are two different things. Fishing we can control. “The bite” not so easy from our end.

I like teaching people how to fish, almost as much as I enjoy fishing myself. One of the hardest things to explain to people learning is that it takes time. I can take someone and tell them everything I know and teach them as much as possible, but it takes time and practice to get it down. I've been doing it for 30 years to get where I am and I'm still learning. Each failure is a chance at a learning experience. Step back and try to figure out what could have been the reason why you didn't catch fish so next time you can take a different approach. We all failed many times before we succeeded.

@Bluebasser86 Exactly  ?

Bass fishing is a never ending learning experience about the time you think you have them figured out they prove you don't.

@t_bone_713 We all struggle!

I just got back from a week on Toledo Bend during pre-spawn & believe me it was humbling.

Good to hear you are back into fishing. It's easy to get into a funk bass fishing and not so easy to regain confidence, especially fishing alone.

Thank you for the positive feedback from the bottom of our hearts!

Glad to hear your doing good. Hey remember man it's tough on all of us... I've been out 4 times since ice out and only caught 6 bass and that was all on one trip!

Gotta embrace the grind and just love the hunt\process of it all and just appreciate the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

Glad to hear your figuring it out... it will give that confidence in yourself to get through the next funk without getting to down..you'll know hey I've done it before and I can figure it out again.

Great job.  Your one fish beats all 4 bass I have caught this year by more than a pound.

Good job. Keep on fishing. That's what I like about Bass Resource. Some of the best fisherman willing to help out others.

I’d like to give my humble opinion. Yes it’s nice to catch fish every time we go out, but sadly that’s not the case. I love fishing but a lot of times I go just for R&R. I get in my boat and may not seriously fish but instead explore different parts of whatever lake I’m at. For me it’s always about getting outside and enjoying myself. Everybody has to do their own thing. Every time I get in a slump I go through the basics of catching fish and soon I’ll catch one. Just don’t get discouraged when you’re not catching, enjoy the day.
I hope this helps in some small way.
good luck!

Glad you had some success, be prepared for more disappointing results, haha. Don’t let slow times get you down, I’ve been fishing a whole lot since I was 2 years old and the skunk knows no boundaries

Thanks for the replies! Yes I know skunks happen but my skunk last year was of epic proportions, like 10-15 ish trips long, and really beat up my confidence. If I get skunked now at least I have the mind set to learn from it! Thanks again everyone!

Kiddin’. That’s awesome. Like Tom said fish alone a lot and those demons start talkin’ to you.
Don’t listen to them...

Keep at it!

Happy to hear you got your enthusiasm back.

I got skunked a few weeks ago......BUT didn't want to be bothered by the pesky critters anyway. :teeth3:
