Phish_ Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 I have been using stradics for the past 8-10 years and have been lucky with them, and have no complaints. Because of this I haven't even used a competitors reel in the past 8-10 years. I am looking for a new reel in the 2000-2500 size range and want something that is as lite as possible. I was going to buy another ci4 but I am hesitant as I expect a new model to come out soon and also want to know if there is another reel I should consider. I have been looking at the a lot of the Daiwa Lt reels but want to know some opinions before pulling the trigger. The 2000 size that Daiwa offers catches my interest as its lite and holds plenty of line for me. I am open to all brands so please feel free to throw any recommendations out, I am all ears. I will be using the reel on a high modulus blank where sensitivity is of the most importance and will be using 10-15lb braid, mainly fishing finesse techniques. The weight of the reel is important to me. Quote
Michigander Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 This will catch you up. Ballistic and Tatula are lighter than the CI4+ Quote

I too have been using the same Stradics (2) for about 15 years and have had zero issues and I have also been thinking of getting a new spinning reel since one of mine is finally showing rust and ware. If I was to branch outside of Shimano, the Daiwa Tatula LT has caught my eye a few times. When I have played around with one at Cabelas, I keep looking for flaw or a reason not to buy it and so far I have yet to find one. I just can't seem to let go of the reels I have even though it's probably time. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted February 14, 2020 Super User Posted February 14, 2020 Daiwa Tatula LT is nice super light weight and super smooth, but in it smoothness it is kind of dry smoothness. I fish with Stradic ci4 2500 size before I bought Tatula LT, reason was the same as you, light weight. I’m happy with my purchased. Quote
kayaking_kev Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 I got a cheaper Daiwa Revros LT on sale for $30 for my St. Croix Panfish UL rod and I'm liking it so far. Quote
