Hower08 Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Having issues with my Helix 7 GPS side imaging chirp g2. Bought a navionics card cannot get it to show up. Called humminbird they told me to update unit. Still didn't work. Also realised my basemaps is not working. I didn't know basemaps was suppose to show detail. My maps just look like yellowish land and white water. I have tried changing all the humminbird maps settings for water colors etc... When I go to the system status page it just shows dashes for basemaps. Do I need to download this separately? If so does it get done the same way as a system update? Tried to add pictures but won't let me. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 I think the base maps only have shading if they happen to have been surveyed. My basemap only shows the outline of the water like you describe as there is no other detail available for where I fish. I'd reset your unit to factory defaults, there's a button for that. Once that's done go into your mapping and you have to choose a source for your mapping. That's where you would nominate your card as the source. If it still doesn't work try the card in another unit, if a friend has one, to make sure it's not the card. Quote
Hower08 Posted February 11, 2020 Author Posted February 11, 2020 Found out there was a download for basemaps. I now have maps in 10 foot increments built into the graph. On way to lake now will mess with nav card some more Quote
Russ E Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 I have a helix g2 di GPS and a helix g2 si gps. They both do the same thing with a Navionics card. I had to buy a navionics card for my helix 7 g2., because my lakemaster cards did not map our power plant lakes. Every time I use the navionics card, I have to manually select it to get maps working. On a a helix 7 g2 : 1 go to the chart menu 3: scroll down to map source 4: highlight fish n chips 5: press the right arrow this should get your maps working. my helix and map card are 3 years old, hopefully this helps. I have to do this Every time I power up the helix with navionics. Lakemaster is automatic. hummingbird tech support was no help on this. I called navionics. They gave me this sequence. Quote
Hower08 Posted February 12, 2020 Author Posted February 12, 2020 I have heard a few other guys talk about this fish n chips mode but I cannot for the life of me find it no matter what I do My map source just says auto, uni map and basemap Quote
