That Helix is probably a great deal but I think the gains from having a GPS anchor (SpotLock or PinPoint) will far eclipse what MegaImaging is going to give you. I upgraded my sonar unit two years ago and was very pleased but I got a GPS anchor last season and it revolutionized my fishing. YMMV

I’d say it’s worth it for sure. Quite the upgrade.

Are you running a 24v or 36v boat?

I'd do if you got the $. It'd be a huge upgrade.  You can add a TM with spot lock later.

The one in the add is 2nd generation,  not the latest 3rd generation.  It's still a good deal with installation.

Would a person be able to hook a new G3 transducer up to that head unit? I have an extra Si/Di transducer.

Good for you, 24v has a lot more options and is cheaper. How many pounds of thrust do you have now?

You can, BUT you wouldn’t gain anything. The unit on sale already has an upgraded transducer with the HW 2D sonar.

In the land of electronics, a generation is 18 months to 2 years. If the upgrades aren't significant, there is no reason to drop an extra grand on something that will then be outdated in another 18 months. If I were to guess, I'd bet that gen 4 will be out by this time next year

$700 off, free installation, and 3X in Cabelas points, I say it's well worth it.
