Looking to buy 3 reels

Both cost the same and I have a gift certificate that has to be spent this week.

Which reel would you buy ?

The Hypermag is a bit lighter but the Chronarch is still light.

Help boys ! Which one ???

It's simple, between those two it's not even a contest: Chronarch.

I have Lews tournament MB reels and love them. But if you can I would go handle each of them and see which one fits your hand better and which you prefer.

IMO Lew’s would be my choice.  I don’t think you can get the tournament MB anymore.  I think they have upgraded that at reel to the tournament MP.  The cost is $159.

For some people if a reel doesn't say Shimano or Daiwa, then it is junk.  I don't happen to feel that way and own 9 brands of reels...liking them all.  I do research before buying as I don't feel like driving 45 minutes just to handle a reel first...provided Cabela's handles it.  Both of those reels get good reviews.  I am assuming you are talking about the MGL model.  In this case I'd most likely go Shimano...not having an opportunity to handle either.  Distance is important to me since I fish from shore.  Both reels get high marks in this category.

Ideally you would handle both.  Maybe even get a chance to cast both.  Then make a decision.  I'd bet the Chronarch will retain a higher resale value if that is important to you.

Thank you for your responses. My gut was telling me the Shimano as well .

Dont get me wrong the Lew’s Hypermag isn’t a bad reel ... I just think that overall the Chronarch will be more enjoyable to fish with.

The resale value is definitely important if I ever want to trade out of them. The Shimano in a year if kept in great shape will definitely be worth more than Lew’s.

I had a friend of mine that fishes tournaments tell me that most Shimano tournament guys don’t get free reels to fish them.
Most Lew’s tournament guys get free Lew’s reels.

LOL .... that basically tells the story.

I plan on putting them on Falcon rods.

Tight lines !

Thx

Both are great reels. Both cast great.

I have one hypermag left and got rid of my chronarch. I didn't like the way the chronarch palms. It's just me but I didn't like the sharp lines on the left side plate. It dug into my fingers when retrieving.

The hypermag palms great to me. Its light weight and smooth. Not a fan of the knobs but that's easy to change. I put a daiwa handle on it.

In the end, it's up to personal preference.

Most on here are gonna say chronarch obviously.  I personally would go with the lews. My buddy has a cple of the hyper mags and they're slick reels. Whichever reel feels better to "you" and offers what you're looking for is the way to go. Dont base your opinion on everyone else's. Most people on here would tell you if it's not shimano or daiwa its junk. I obviously disagree as I've had great success and have been super impressed with lews offerings.

What he said. And I guarantee you %80 of them have never fished with one for a day. When I go out with my buddies and they have some of the high end diawa and Shimano they always let me try them for a while. I never bash them because they are nice. IMHO Lews is better especially for the money.
