FordsnFishin Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Does anybody remove the anti reverse pawl in shimano reels? I get having the extra security of it, but I can't think of any other reels with it. Reasoning being petty, but the constant clicking while reeling in can be annoying. Quote
FordsnFishin Posted January 23, 2020 Author Posted January 23, 2020 Apologize, just realized I placed this in the wrong forum. Moderator could you please move? Quote

The Bassman Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 If your reel is newer than the G platform it doesn't have one, anyway. 1 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 Yes, removed it from all of my older Shimanos years ago, but saved them and send it along when I sell a reel in case the buyer wants it. They were a pain in the neck. 1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 Over a decade and hundreds of reels I’ve seen one catastrophic AR failure and that was in an abused musky reel. Redundant AR is exactly that. 1 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 25, 2020 Super User Posted January 25, 2020 I have bent a few in my time cleaning reels, especially on Curado 200g and the Chronarch 50e. I don't know what it is but if it moves out of place when putting the reel back together, I end up bending it. I have left them off before until a new one came in and really didn't notice much of anything until I hooked into a decent fish. Here is another old thread from TT about this sort of thing...... http://www.tackletour.net/viewtopic.php?t=44933 1 Quote
