Super User Boomstick Posted January 23, 2020 Super User Posted January 23, 2020 I must admit that I am suffering from cabin fever badly right now. I have been planning on getting kayaks for myself and the boys (my oldest wants a SUP) and I have largely figured out how I'm going to rig those up (the only thing we're undecided on is which SUP) and also how I'm going to build my harbor freight trailer. It's going to be a lot of fun. I just ordered a frog rod and another reel, so I can fish a frog and jig concurrently on heavy rods with braid. I feel like a little kid at Christmas right now waiting for the lakes to thaw. Next I will start booking camping sites for the spring and summer, and I have two extra weeks of vacation this year as a one time thing due to a change in my employers vacation policy (a one time thing). I can use a total of 8 this year and 6 in the summer. One of my closest friends is even considering renting a storage unit so he can buy a kayak and join us (he lives in an apartment complex). If not, we will shore fish a few days and go to lakes we can rent a canoe from like we usually do. The thing is I don't have a winter replacement for roughly 5 months of the year. I want to go fishing so bad. It almost makes me want to move south, but come July I will remember how much I hate the heat too -- at least you can catch them up here in the middle of the summer and I can survive the heat on the positive side. 2 Quote

swhit140 Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 I usually get cabin fever the day I put my boat away. I've been fiddling with all my tackle every month it seems like. 1 Quote

I need a couple of double height open 3700 boxes to hold some random stuff I have on the top shelf, and one more open 3700 box for the rack on the bottom etc but I already sorted through it with the boxes I have now etc. It hasn't been as bad as cleaning my reels 30 times this winter at least. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted January 26, 2020 Super User Posted January 26, 2020 I've got my reels cleaned, lures have replacement hooks where needed, tackle box is organized for pre-spawn, and early spring. I even have my panfish rig ready to go. Now I'm just watching YouTube videos until it warms up a bit. 2 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted January 26, 2020 Super User Posted January 26, 2020 I usually book a trip to Florida in February as that is when cabin fever is at its peak for me. Sadly it’s not in the cards this year... April can’t come fast enough. 1 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted February 3, 2020 Author Super User Posted February 3, 2020 Well I believe I have found a vacation I'm going to book maybe in mid June. There is a campground right inbetween these ponds. Roughly 15 miles north is Echo Lake and Lake Seymour as well, which are home to some of Vermont's finest smallies and have been on my todo list for a few years now. And Island Pond has walleye! Lots of fish too and freshwater mussels so they must not have gotten the zebra mussel infestation. Quote

Ahhhh...that is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for the small reprieve from hard water season. I hope you get to escape there in June. I've only fished VT once and it was really enjoyable. I like to escape to Manchester, VT occasionally and found Lowell State Park on my last visit. Clean, quiet, beautiful scenery, and not at all over crowded. Plan to go there again, but will bring the kayak next time. Filling the hard water season studying last season's maps/sonar info so I can be better prepared for my second tournament season, and doing reconnaissance on new water I want to try. The cleaning, organizing gear itch usually doesn't get scratched until the end of February/early March otherwise it seems to make the winter feel twice as long...and the cabin fever feels completely unbearable...it's not easy, but I find pacing myself keeps my bass brain on a more even keel. 1 Quote
CrankFate Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Cabin fever strikes. Weather is getting warm. Waiting for new rig to arrive from preorder/backorder. Back into quarantine. Warm enough outside today to have a window or two open at 10pm tonight. This part of the year is worse than February for me. 1 Quote

I also have a rod on backorder (Daiwa Tatula Elite 7'1" M/F Ehrler dropshot rod). I'm hoping it will arrive sooner rather than later because I would have taken it out today if I had it. It's supposed to ship sometime in April. I got a Tatula LT reel to pair with it, and that thing is so light I thought they shipped me an empty box! 1 Quote

I’m waiting for a Curado bfs and Levante Jerkbait Special. Get a UPS notification that something is coming tomorrow. May be the reel. Because I got an email saying they should be shipping at the end of last week. Dying here. Just cleaned the drain trap of the washing machine... Still a good day if your son got 2. Quote
