I’ve been team lews for the last few years but I had one die on me so I figured I’d branch out some. im really particular about how a reel feels in the hand I tired out a tatula ct on the rods I use was about to order but figured why not try and get a better quality reel and hopefully not have to worry about it breaking. just wanted to know if the sv tsw is the same frame and size and if anyone has either, thanks Quote
Russ E Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 I own a few of both. They both feel the same in my hand. The SV is a little smoother. The main difference is the sv spool. It helps to alleviate backlashes. The SV is a great reel for pitching and skipping. In regards to the reels breaking, I own 5 very heavily used CT's and they are still going strong after four years. 1 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 13, 2020 Super User Posted January 13, 2020 I don't own it but was able to fish the SV TWS over the summer for several hours and thought it was one the best reels for the money Daiwa has ever made. The one I used did everything I could ask and more. It was pretty much flawless. Quote
Revival Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 I have both and they are phenomenal reels, especially if you can get them at a cheaper price. They both feel the same way in my hand as well. I have tried multiple different reels from friends and the CT and SV felt the best in my hands. Quote

BassKicker42 Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 I’m a Lews guy for sure. I love how they feel in hand, their reliability, and customer service! There is a reason that all this Quantum pros switched to Lews. I have all Lews reels for any of my casting setups. That being said I experimented with Daiwa CTs to see what the Tatula line was all about and I liked their line control for flipping and skipping so I bought a couple of high speed SVTWs and I gotta say even while skipping you have to really screw up to get a big backlash. The line control with the shallow sv spool is incredible. So I’m a Lews man but with a couple excellent Daiwa reels. Lews feels better in hand by a long shot for me though. The SVTW is a little bit bigger in hand but the new Tatula Elite reels are built on the Tatula 100 frame which is supposed to be easier to palm. Good luck. Quote

The SV stands apart due to the spool design. They can be had for about 135.00 if you shop hard. That for me is a no brainer. No disrespect to BassKicker42 but Quantum pros transitioned to Lews because of their Strike King affiliation and corporate pressure. Lews also provides a quality product. Quote

It's not better than the Elite for long bomb casts with aerodynamic lures... but it might be the best reel for nearly everything else. It's particularly good for wind or light baits. Quote

I like them both and could recommend either. For my money the SV spool is more than worth the extra money in the SV-TWS. I believe that the SV-TWS is pretty much on par with the Zillion series, I don't really remember how much different the innards felt as I only used them a couple of times before replacing the spool bearings with ZPI ceramics and upgraded them to 11 bearing setups with Carbontex drag washers. Sizes are identical. the new tatsv that came out this month is built on the smaller 100 frame. 1 Quote

And if that's the case, yes, it's a tank, but the form factor of the 100 is still way better. 1 Quote
