Super User Sam Posted January 6, 2020 Super User Posted January 6, 2020 My wife's friend told us a story about a couple she knows who got a very interesting and surprising letter in the mail. The conversation started when my wife told her friend at lunch about my best friend in Louisiana who went wild boar hunting and his Cajun friend who managed to shot and kill, with four or five high powered bullets, a 350 pound wild boar. Well, the beast was too heavy to lift onto the back of the pickup truck or even drag it to the truck so they cut off its head and left the caucus for the wild animals. Funny story if you knew my best friend and the Cajun characters we know. My wife's friend said she had a wild story to relate to my wife that happened to some church friends in New Jersey and here it is, and she swears it is true. "Her friend and husband always drive to Florida for the winter from New Jersey in December and the wife complained that the stay on the Interstate too long and never see the beauty of the states they drive through. So when they hit Georgia they took a right hand turn and using their GPS wove around the backroads of Georgia towards the Florida line enjoying the sights and sounds of rural America. Well, they came upon a turn in the road and as they followed the road to the right this strange animal ran out into the road and they hit it. The husband got out of the car to see what he hit and if there was any damage. No great damage. Just a small dent and some scratched paint on the SUV's bumper. But the animal was out cold and it was a strange thing. He called for his wife to come and take a look at it. It seems it was some sort of a three-legged wart hog, or something like it, like a pig. It had two tusks, a hard hide, straight hair, and claws at the end of each leg that could tear a man apart. They had no idea what to do so they dragged the beast, which must have weighed around 150 pounds, to the side of the road and left it. A few miles down the road they came to a country store where they stopped to see if any oil or fluids were leaking out of the car and to get a cold Pepsi to calm down. They don't drink so a cold Pepsi is as strong as it gets. They told the clerk behind the counter that they think they saw a three-legged pig or something on the road. The clerk, who turned out to be the store's owner, laughed and said that 'yes, in Georgia there is a three-legged pig on the endangered list and you don't' see them very often but they are there.' As they were talking to the store's owner, a Georgia state policeman came in and bought his stuff and left. After he left the store owner said that he shut up about the pig as there was a $5,000 fine if anyone injured or killed the animal, by accident or hunting, and he did not want to bring the state police into the conversation. The couple thanked the store owner, got back into their SUV, and drove to their winter home in Florida. Well, when they returned home and picked up all of their mail from the post office in April, they had a letter from the Georgia Resources Wildlife Division with a bill for $5,000 accusing them of hitting and killing this three-legged pig. They had no idea how the Georgia officials found out who they were. The store owner never looked at their car and they paid for their two Pepsies' with cash; and the state policeman showed no interest in them or their car. And they did not mention this to anyone while in Florida or on the phone with their children and grandchildren. So the husband calls the Georgia Resources Wildlife Division and asks about the bill. A very nice lady with a sweet southern accent told them that they did indeed find out about what had happened and that the law says there is a $5,000 fine. How did they find out how it happened and the car's license number? Scroll down to find out. The pig squealed! 1 4 Quote
