After watching the BPT Conroe tournament footage and Luke Dunkin's podcast with Tim Horton, I felt a strong urge to rant....

Timmy H and the BPT commentators said something really silly that I needed to point out.  Something to the effect that the BPT will finally allow anglers to fish professionally without going broke.  That the new, young guys won't have to be rich in order to fish at the highest level.  Uhhhhh....REALLY?  Don't they still have to pay THE SAME AMOUNT to even have a shot at qualifying for the entry-fee-less BPT?? The "feeder FLW pro tour" still costs $40K in entry fees along with the same travel and gear expenses.  Not to mention, it will still be a couple years before anyone else is even "accepted" into the exclusive club.  And who knows how many slots they'll even open.  I have a hard time believing the angler owners are going to want to relinquish their spots on the tour to newbs and have to pay entry fees again.:computer-22:

No problem, glad you were able to get these negative feelings out there. This time of the year we should all be allowed to enjoy the Holiday's without any ill will toward an organization that we will in no way ever be a part of or that will ever in any way effect our lives. An open forum is the perfect place to just "let it all out" as they say and I for one am glad you were able to get this off your chest on this Christmas Eve. May you continue to enjoy all the blessings you have, and if for any reason you feel like venting even more, we are open ears (well maybe eyes).

I guess so. I mean, I am posting my thoughts on a bass fishing forum from my comfortable toilet, in my comfortable home, from a miniature computer that can also make phone calls.

If your toilet doesn’t clean your butt then you are living in a third world country.

MLF/FLW seems like they are trying really hard to say anything to convince people how great they are. If they were so great, they wouldn’t have to say a thing. Even a portion of their fans are defensive

What they should have said .... "We are starting a new league in attempt to expand the viewer market, and to bring in more non-endemic sponsors. We realize the traditional fans of the sport, are vested in the 5 fish format, and may not like it, but we feel it is important to expand the sport, and make it better for everyone" Instead....we got "Everything and everyone in the 5 fish format sucks, and until everyone realizes it, we will continue to cram it down your throat"!

It's called marketing.  If they were not saying anything then they wouldn't be doing their jobs.  They are a business just like anything else.  It's their job to create a brand and to get people interested in it.

Sorry for the negativity!

As a BFL and Costa angler I wondered about this too

Sorry for the negativity!

Here are the rules that have been set for now:

Following the 2021 season and every year after, the Top 10 anglers in the FLW Pro Circuit points standings will be promoted to the no-entry-fee Bass Pro Tour. Advancement to the 2022 Bass Pro Tour will be based on 2020 and 2021 point total, then single-year point total every year after.

So pretty much the pros were given this first year as a get to know the format trial run.

Points will count for the next 2 years and then people will be promoted/demoted.

If that happened this year the 10 bottom guys would have been:
