Super User Oregon Native Posted December 4, 2019 Super User Posted December 4, 2019 I too have walked this road....painful. DMSO can be amazing....Years ago they did some more work on my arm and after an operation they said...OH....found something else in there we need to fix but didn't have your permission so we can do it later if you like......well.....@!#$%.....this kind of bent me a little....I didn't want to come back ....just hit me wrong maybe. Did the acupuncture thing and am a believer if you get a good one....this ain't easy by the way...but it worked well. Now...still use the DMSO and the legal CBD a friend turned me on to and basically no pain for a long time.... Love it...glad I tried something outside the box you might say... Lastly....best of luck to ya 1 1 Quote
tander Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 I have had tennis/golfers elbow several times over the years. I still do the exercises on the net and do the icing. This is what really helped the most. I have gave it to several of my buddies and it helped them. https://www.amazon.com/TheraBand-Tendonitis-Resistance-Tendinitis-Intermediate/dp/B000KGOMBC/ref=asc_df_B000KGOMBC/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=216514740623&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1052659995709150244&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9013959&hvtargid=pla-414123019357&psc=1 1 Quote

Will doing this exercise cause carpal tunnel? (Which I already have) Thank you, -Fry Quote

I had carpal tunnel and was looking at surgery. After I quit wheat my carpal tunnel improved then disappeared. It has been 3 years and it has not come back. 1 1 Quote
DanielG Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 I had carpel tunnel operations on both hands. Not a bad ordeal at all. Local shot in the nerve in the arm then the operation. It was sealed with superglue only and all was fine after that. I had them done a short time apart. No issues since then. Quote

I’ve had: • Bi-lateral carpal tunnel surgery 1983 •Bi-lateral Pisiform (bone) removal 2015/16 (both wrists) •Right wrist Scaphoid Lunate ligament removed/snipped/debrided/ nerves removed/etc. •Left thumb trigger finger snippage Would you use the Theraband Flexbar to relieve your right elbow tendinitis, risk further carpal tunnel damage, or just give up fishing and take up Checkers instead ?!? Boy, that's a lot of stuff. I have no idea what would work. I hope you find a solution that lets you do what you want. 1 Quote
Frog Turds Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 My deal with it; I frayed my bicep tendons at work where i was lifting 20-40,000#'s a day and im not exaggerating...my right bicep was the worst, my dominant arm...My sports orthopedic surgeon after looking at my MRI said "do you know what a frayed rope looks like" "I said yup" and he replied "well thats what your bicep tendon looks like" I couldnt even drink coffee with my right arm and sometimes had to brush my teeth with my left because even that was a problem...dunno if you've ever tried to brush your teeth with your non dominant arm but its full on dork mode... i had been to physical therapy 3 times and those were extended at that, cortisone shots & needling at PT etc...couldnt fish for a whole season because i couldnt set the hook/fight the fish (with rod in my right arm) or reel (if i had rod in my left) without serious pain...i tried to grin and bear it but failed, was too painful...i lost fish after fish and had to hang'em up, that was 2017... 2018 i fished at a dialed back pace...i could not use lefty reels/have stick in right arm due to same above mentioned issues...im ambidextrous and certain techniques id use lefties, others righties...i had to replace the all lefties reels i had which wasnt cheap...well, i guess i didnt HAVE to but ya know I would of had 50% less than i typically bring along otherwise... feburary 2019 I ended up having the least invasive surgery on my bicep tendon called Topaz...which is not the cut and reattach deal...they make a small incision, stretch your flesh apart, expose the tendon and basically electrocute the length of the tendon/damaged area with a small micro wand...it damages the tendon on a micro level but your body's response is kicked into overdrive with focused healing...you can still use your hand/arm right after and i actually had to remind myself i had surgery because its so minimally invasive compared...i thought my right arm was more or less gonna be duct taped to my side afterwards and have to wipe with my left, that would of been a friggin disaster...i was truly amazed though how much i could use my arm afterwards, certainly wasnt expecting that... last season i was able to fish fairly normal again, slower in the beginning but got confidence back as the season wore on...and was able to use a lefty again but sparingly...for one, i didnt want to over tax my tendon that had surgery and also because my other issue i have in that same arm mentioned down below...i know my arms will never be 100% again ive accepted that but i can still fish...maybe not as hard as i used to but now i try to fish wiser and really focus on finding that prime real estate where the fat chicks hang to maximize my new dialed back pace reality... But its not over, i ended up getting bad tennis elbow at the same time as the other that im going to have the same procedure done this winter...hopefully all goes well and i'll be a couple % points up from where i am now... I'm not at all suggesting anyone run out and get that procedure...its just a fyi; that there is a very minimally invasive surgery out there called Topaz for tendonitis that most may not even know about...if all else has been exhausted and its horribly chronic like mine, it may be something to talk to an orthopedic surgeon about as a consideration... Wow, that’s quite a journey... sounds like you’re back but being careful which is good. Funny thing, because I was over-compensating for my surgically repaired right wrist, and the tendinitis in my right elbow... I started over-using my left (less dominant) arm for everything (casting, lawn work, snow shoveling, etc.) and Was JUST at the orthopedic clinic yesterday for shoulder area pain. Diagnosed with a strained bicep tendon. Did my first round of PT last night. Hopefully it fixes it, but if not I may ask you for a referral of a doc to perform that Topaz procedure Quote
Frog Turds Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 Round 2 in the books, had surgery on the 9th on the elbow tendon...this time the surgeon did a bit more work with that procedure because it was so chronically bad...hopefully it heals up as nicely as the other did and the daily issues it plagued me with along with the significant negative impact it had on my ability to bass as before will be gone? SuperDuty Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Mine lasted about a year and it was bad. I would wake up in the middle of the night from the pain. I wore a compression brace over my elbow and tried to give that arm as much light duty as possible. After about a year the pain was fully gone and hasn't came back for the past year. So far so good. Hopefully it stays that way. 1 Quote
