Invited to fish with someone on his boat. I haven't done this before and I am not sure of the Etiquette , the do's and dont's.

The guy I'll be fishing with will be fly casting, while I'll be all conventional.

So what would your expectations be if you where taking a fisherman out for his first time fishing from a boat?

I have taken fly fishermen out on my bass boat for guide trips.  I also have fly fished.  You will need to be very aware of the guy on the front deck since fly fishing puts as much line out on the back cast as it does on the front.  If he is experienced, he will keep his casts fairly horizontal to the boat which will keep his line away from you.

Don't step on his seats. Don't cast in front of him. Ask him if he would like you to net for him. Offer him money for gas. Ask ahead of time how much gear you should bring. Ask him about helping launch or load the boat if you are experienced in backing a trailer. Don't ask or offer if you are uncomfortable doing it though. There are a ton of things you could cover but I think communication is the key.

Give him as much space as possible and keep your head on a swivel. As AJAY mentioned, you'll be finishing shallow and in my experience in no more than 10' of water. Fly Fishing is a riot, you should give it a try. I went out with a supplier who fly fishes exclusively, he took me to a private camp with stocked ponds and it's was an exhilarating experience. Caught a half dozen brookies on my first outing.
