ike8120 Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 Not a bad reel for the price point. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted September 29, 2019 Super User Posted September 29, 2019 I watched the video and I know I shouldn't knock it until I try it but the I can't get past the design. Any reel that relies on a gimmicky look (the teeth in frame) just is an immediate turn off to me> Call me old school I guess. I do like how the gear ratios are color coded, the look of the cork knobs and the materials of the pinion and main gear seem well thought out. The line guide system may also be a plus. It's cone shape looks promising. If I were a younger guy getting started in bass fishing, it would look like a lot of reel at the given price point. 2 Quote
BassCats Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 I don’t see it on there website. Is there a price and date it comes out? Quote

Hulkster Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 it should play Jaws music as you are reeling in. 1 Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted September 30, 2019 Super User Posted September 30, 2019 Shark teeth? That alone would keep me from buying the reel. Quote
Glaucus Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 Looks like it belongs on a Favorite baseball team rod or something. 1 Quote

On sale for $59 right now I believe. Externially adjustable centrifugal brakes. I bought one, fished some frogs on it then and gave it to a buddy to learn on. It has a beginner friendly centrifugal brake. Decent reel for $60. Well, if you're talking sale price instead of retail - the CA-80 can be had for $75 on Amazon...and the Fuego (retail $110) is available on Amazon for $71. I'm looking at adding another Fuego to my arsenal this winter. 1 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 1, 2019 Global Moderator Posted October 1, 2019 I've had a blue one on one of my jerkbait rods for about a year now. It'll sling a jerkbait a long ways and handled some nice fish for me. I actually use the "teeth" as a hook holder because my jerkbait rod has the stupid hook holder behind the reel, which I hate, so I hook it on the reel instead. 1 Quote

Favorite rods are eye catching for sure, The quality is not there however. The screw down part of the reel seat of my Balance rod came apart. The cork and EVA foam on that part of the reel is just a covering. It's actually glued on to a plastic base. I glued it back with some Loctite but seeing how flimsy it is left a bad taste in my mouth. As far as the Megajaws goes, it's got a lot of nice features for the price point (Clickable tension knob, lube port, etc) It goes on sale from time to time for under $50 and that's the ideal price point to compete with the Black Max type reels. How’s it holding up when you hook a big fish. Quote
Russ E Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 I own 3 different kastking baitcasters. 4 sharky and 2 speed demon spinning reels. for the price range they are quality reels. Can they compete with my Tatula's or revo's? No, but they are a decent reel for filling your arsenal, without breaking the bank. Everyone kastking reel I own was bought on sale. Amazon and e-bay occasionally has crazy sales on them. How long they last is yet to be determined. one other quality reel that has crazy sales is the bass pro shops pro qualifier. they are usually $99.00 I have seen them for $50.00 a couple times. Quote

BassCats Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Then I may just order me one. could use a new reel without the added cost Quote
newyorktoiowa57 Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 I don't use graphite framed reels-they feel cheap in and hollow in my hands. I actually prefer the solidity of aluminum over carbon composite/magnesium reels, which can have a hollow feeling as well, but not a cheap feeling. Quote
