Bandersnatch Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Upgrading my current helix 10 G2N system So I’d like to update from my current system to include mega 360. I currently have a Helix 10 SI/DI/GPS G2N at the console linked together with a Helix 10 DI at the bow through a 5 port hub including my I pilot link. I do not have any 360. From my understanding in order to have mega 360 I’ll need to purchase a G3N unit. I’d like to take advantage of having the two existing G2N units. One thought I had was to move the DI unit from the bow and run both the Helix 10 G2N SI/DI combo alongside the Helix 10 G2N DI. I’d then potentially run a Helix 10 or 12 G3N SI/DI combo at the bow but link them through the hub and use the transom new G3N transducer. In my mind this would allow me to have new Mega DI, Mega SI viewed at the console on both G2N units as well as the bow. I could then run 360 up front or split screen. Could I still keep my Helix G2N DI transducer that’s currently mounted on my ultrex and plug it into the new G3N Bow unit? Any recommendations of a Helix 10 vs 12 G3N for 360 up front would be appreciated The total investment would be a Helix 10 G3N Mega + SI/DI Combo Mega 360 I currently have two screens, a helix 10 G2N SI at the console. I also have a Helix 10 G2N Di at the bow. They are linked together. I want a mega 360. My understanding is I need a G3N unit to have mega 360. So I am wondering If i can move my bow G2N DI unit to the console making up two G2N units at the console. Add a G3N Mega + SI/DI unit to the bow. I'd then install the G3N transducer and link them all together hopefully allowing me to view Mega + SI/DI on my G2N console units and allow me to view Mega 360 on the new Bow G3N Unit. Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted September 11, 2019 Super User Posted September 11, 2019 You should call Humminbird and run everything by them. I have 2 Solix and 360. The old 360 connected via a Ethernet connection to a fish finder or to a switch. The new 360 mega connects to a fish finder through a transducer cable. The question I have not found the answer to is how do you connect a 360 mega and regular transducer to one fish finder? I assume it’s possible. Splitter maybe? Do you loose anything when you do this? I would want answers to these questions before buying anything. Quote
Rip_lipz Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Are your units G2N Mega imaging units? If they are not mega imaging units you will not be able to use a MEGA transducer with them. Quote
