Has anyone used 100% silicone spray on your fishing line?

I sometimes use Real Magic.  I think it is silicone.

I always use KVD L&L on my line, in my opinion it helps tremendously...

I tried the KVD stuff once...not impressed, but I've normally used lines that don't really need it. Maybe on stiffer lines it helps??

Some of that silicon spray gets your line really greasy. Doesnt seem to do as much good as kvd line & lure. That's all I use if I use line conditioner.

KVD line treatment soaks into the line. That is why it does not work immediately. It also dries so there is no residue to collect dirt.

Silicone just coats the surface of the line. It washes off after a few casts. One problem with silicone is it leaves a residue on any part of your reel it touches. It collects dirt and grime. 

 

On a reel that is filled with line that has a lot of memory, I will spray it with kvd the night before it gets used.

Basic steps I do when using KVD

1) Soak the filler spool and let dry before putting on the reel.

2) 1-2 quick spurts on the line the night before you're going out.

 

I use it on my mono (Avocet 8# and Nitrous 12#) and my Yo-Zuri Hybrid (Trion 10# and Pres-25 4#), no issues and the line remains limp with almost no memory and great casting.

I've never felt the need to use it and honestly feel its pointless unless ur using some junk line.  Of course this is my humble opinion

KVD L& L on every non-braid spool.  Every trip.  It makes a difference, isn't pointless and worth every penny....and no junk lines in my inventory.

And here is why KVD L&L works so well:

Line & Lure is a special polymer blend that becomes part of the fishing line it is applied to. Other line treatments you find on the market are primarily silicone oil and solvents. Silicone oil only temporarily coats the line and solvents can damage line. Silicone oil rapidly comes off the line (on your hands and in the water), requiring re-treatment of the line after just a few casts.

The special polymers in Line & Lure are hydrophobic (water repelling) and very slippery. It doesn't allow water to draw back on to the reel spool, which eliminates the line drag that a "wet" spool has. It also protects the line from wearing out as quickly as un-treated line because it resists the abrasion that wears line out.  It contains no oils or solvents as in Reel Magic that can build up and collect dirt like silicone/oil treatments will. 

And it makes braid a whole lot easier to fish with.

KVD L&L for me, every trip.  Absolutely makes a difference.  I even use it on braid.  Seems like it helps slow down color fade.

Yes, used LPS1 silicone spray on off shore International reels for years. 

I use TangleFree on my fresh water bass reels, don't like KVD line conditioner because it must be added 24 hours before using. Reel Magic tends to gum up the lube oils inside the reel.

Only need it to be on the line long enough to dry, usually a few hours.

I give my reels a spritz the night before going out...same time I plug the battery to the charger. No big deal.

I do mine when I get back from a trip.  That way, I don't forget.

Spritzing KVD on my spools is part of my 'night before a trip' checklist.

I have a full checklist in Evernote that I reference...my near-60 year old brain needs the help. ?

I used to do it that way, but I try to avoid too much prep work the night before.  It leads to no sleep.

If KVD did everything advertised the line companies would licenses it as a top coating during processing. Fluorocarbon isn't a hygroscopic polymer that absorbs surface treatments, if it did you would only treat the line ounce. What KVD does is allow the line to wet the surface to help the line lay on the spool and that is what you want it to do.

What is being repeated is multiple treatments of KVD require shorter drying time of less then 2 hours and that is good.

I have no experience using a line treatment on braid because FINS doesn't need it, it already coated, the color doesn't fade. I do know there are good braid line treatments available.

If you like KVD use it, I don't because it doesn't work good for me.

Well, I'm only going out once a week...if that often, so doing the checklist on a trip-return basis doesn't work for me.
