Has the senko replaced the fluke?

For the most part, I often use flukes as trailers but use the Senko (and cheaper brand knockoffs) when bass fishing. However, I hear flukes on small jigheads can be deadly when targeting Walleye.

It looks like they are rigging like a traditional fluke in the video... so not that great of action on the fall.  The Caffeine Shad has MUCH better action on the Owner Twistlock Light 4/0 3/32 oz hook.  Rigged this way it will swim on its own if you let it sink for 3-5 seconds after casting.  The Owner weighted hook keeps the Caffeine Shad horizontal and balanced so the bubble tail shimmies, changes direction and continues swimming on its own on the fall... so many strikes happen then.  Big difference, have to try it...

When I'm fishing out of my yak I prefer the fluke. For what ever reason I find it easier to fish than the senko. However, when I'm in my boat I'll use both. I really like both but in a yak I don't even take senkos anymore.

1.)  Wacky Tube Rigged Senko

 

2.)  Weedless nose-hooked Superfluke

Two entirely different baits for me, so one cannot replace the other.  If I was going to replace one, it would be the fluke.  I fish YUM Dingers the same as anyone else fishes a stickbait, but they're my last option not because of their lack of effectiveness, but because I find sink, jerk, sink very boring.

 

I use ZOOM Flukes to follow up missed topwater bites and will often stick them on my dinger rod as a more finesse topwater when I can't get them to eat a Choppo or Berkley Drift Walker.

 

Flukes walk excellently, and their fall and tail shimmy on the pause almost always gets the eat if one misses it on top.  If you haven't tried walking a fluke, give it a go!

They’re for different things. 

 

Flukes have less action but spiral like dying Shad... For colder weather. 

 

Senkos just get bit. LOL. If it’s not early prespawn or late fall and your fishing shallow go senko

I’ve seen them both work all season long. 

 

When the fish are aggressive both work, when it slows down a little the Fluke works better or when the fish are smaller.

Out all day yesterday after a storm/cold front. Struggled to get many bites and all were smaller fish. Decided to go back to the tried and true Caffeine Shad for the last hour of the day and caught 6 including a 20 incher.  Five of the six fish hit on the initial fall on the Owner Twistlock Light hook.  A regular fluke rig wouldn’t give it the same action...
