Tackleholic Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Does anyone know an easy way of doing this? Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted July 29, 2019 Super User Posted July 29, 2019 I just put the new one on top of the old one. Quote
Super User WRB Posted July 29, 2019 Super User Posted July 29, 2019 Hair drier heat and peel off. Tom Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted July 29, 2019 Super User Posted July 29, 2019 Any of those above. I've never tried WD40 to get the adhesive off, I've always used MEK since I always have some around and seldom have WD40. 1 Quote

MEK and plastic (like my canoe) don't play well together. Quote

Super User Way2slow Posted July 29, 2019 Super User Posted July 29, 2019 Didn't think about some people have plastic floaters. Definitely do not use MEK on any of the poly stuff. On Aluminum and fiberglass it works great, but can melt most poly materials. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted July 29, 2019 Super User Posted July 29, 2019 The last time I had to do this, I remembered the hair dryer trick, but then I couldn't find mine and I thought going to town to get a new one just to take a sticker off my boat was a little silly. So anyway, I used Goof-off and a razor scraper and the sticker came off pretty quick. Less than a one beer task. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Another advantage of being married.....no stortage of hair dryers Quote
Super User gim Posted July 30, 2019 Super User Posted July 30, 2019 The 3M adhesive remover works well. I just removed my old registration in April and after rubbing for a while there is literally no evidence of it being there. Well I applied the new one after it all dried so now I’m good for 3 years again. Quote
