I have a bottle of Chart JJ's Magic that I don't use as often as I should. Most of the liquid has evaporated off; leaving a dark, condensed liquid in the bottom. Has anyone had luck adding water or some other liquid to this to get some more use out of it?

As it's getting hotter here, the water is getting more and more green and I've had good luck using this when it gets this way.

It's still very liquid, not thick so I would imagine it would thin out and come back...??

JJ's is some interesting stuff - it will disintegrate elaztech (ZMan) soft plastics and even with a seemingly  tight cap the stuff seems to evaporate off rather quickly ! I'm not sure what the answer is to keeping JJ's dye for any length of time ?

I've had mine for about 3 years now. I just store it in a dark, cool place in the box they came in when I'm not using it. Make sure all the caps are screwed on tight. Haven't had any evaporation problems.

Elaztech does desintegrate itself anyway... Just forget a tackle box with a few of them out in the sun and you'll have quite a mess to clean ?

I would definitely not add water to it. I'm not sure what kind of base the stuff has, but it isn't water. I've searched online to see if an MSDS or something exists, but never found anything. It's either non-toxic or in violation of some regulations, I'd lean towards the latter.

You are talking about JJ's Magic that cost $5.50 right? Toss out the old buy new bottle and keep the cap tight.

True, Tom

Its just that Im going this Sunday and dont think I'll find it local. Probably just add water for this trip, use it for what its worth and then get a new bottle

Actually, I have some of the clear that I never use. I'll pour a little of this into the chart to get me by this weekend.

I have the same issue and it drives me nuts!

Being here in Atlanta, I'm contemplating going over to the CDC and seeing if I can get one of those airtight containers they keep the ebola in.  Maybe that will hold the JJs!

I stopped using JJ's years ago, and don't miss it at all.  The mess, the fuss, the smell in my rod locker....all gone!  :)
