westmdbass21502 Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Ok I think I’m having interference on Garmin striker 7 sv..called Garmin and no help there ,I did put on ferrells and no help, moved the transducer with new bracket which keeps it off motor head and no help there now the weird thing is it doesn’t do it all the time, but when it does it spikes soon as I hit switch and stays on when I am using to go long distance .Any body else have problems is it transducer or trolling motor and forgot to mention I did a ground still spikes Quote
Super User Scott F Posted July 25, 2019 Super User Posted July 25, 2019 Are you using the same battery to power the depth finder as your trolling motor? Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted July 26, 2019 Super User Posted July 26, 2019 The best thing I have found for interference is a ferrite choke mounted in the trolling motor power cord. Quote
westmdbass21502 Posted July 26, 2019 Author Posted July 26, 2019 Well I do have ferrite choke on the power wire, but to ya put it close to fishfinder or anywhere on wire Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted July 26, 2019 Super User Posted July 26, 2019 If you are using an onboard charger, try disconnecting it from the battery your fish finder is attached to. I’ve heard of interference leaking through the charger from the trolling motor. I think this is rare but it’s easy to test in the garage. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted July 26, 2019 Super User Posted July 26, 2019 Do you have a ferrite cloak or one of the rings? Quote
