Looking to get another reel , but cant decide between a scorpion dc or a core 51, which would be a better reel ?

Can the scorpion dc gears be swapped out with the curado dc to 8.5:1 gears?

both are around $350 cad.

I have the Core 101 and the Curado DC.  If I were to choose on the reels, I would consider what I was using it for.... the Core for weightless softplastic or light T-rigged lures and the DC for crank baits and maybe jerkbaits.

As far as the gears go, after doing some digging I would say no and its probably not worth it.  When I looked at the schematics you would need, at a guess, the gear, yoke, clutch bearing, and pinion gear (all different parts from the standard 6.x DC) and then I can't say if they will all fit or work.

The biggest selling point of the core is its light weight. If a very light reel isnt a necessity there are better performing less $$ options. Scorp DC gets my vote.

it palms very well. i'm getting the core for 125$ cad, around 90$ usd

Does the reel have a spool, handle and gears at that price?  :teeth:  If the reel is in halfway decent shape, I would buy it at that price whether I needed another reel or not.  :thumbsup3:
