What is this and how do I fix this?

What is this and how do I fix it? The image of 30 ft appears to be a thermocline but the thermocline should be 6 to 7 ft. If I adjust sensitivity it does go away or get better but then I don't pick up fish. Current sensitivity is at 7 or 8. Get same image on trolling motor Fishfinder and transom Mount Fishfinder on two different transducers in two different units any help would be appreciated thanks in advance

Sorry let me clarify I'm referring to the Clutter toward the bottom of the screen shows up on Side Imaging and 2D sonar.

That looks like the thermocline to me.

don't know of many lakes, this time of year, that has a thermocline at 6-7 foot.

In summer the thermocline runs about 12- 15 feet on most reservoirs around here. 

some clear weedy lakes it goes a little deeper.

If it's not the thermocline my money would be on junk in the water.  My home pond gets a layer like that after a good rain, all the stuff that washes in forms a band in the water column.

Yes sir. Didn't make any difference on that.

So could be thermocline that deep? Also we have had a ton of rain this month and lake was flooded so junk could be logical.. This reading is not everywhere is the lake just in deeper spots . Appears over 15 ish feet. If it's really showing something in the water I can live w that. I was just making sure something not broken or a quick setting issue.

I'm thinking you guys were correct on a thermocline unless someone else has a different opinion. It is a clear lake and it's been in the upper 80s for the last 3 weeks. Thanks again for the help.

In clear deep lakes, the thermocline should not be as shallow as 6-7 feet. What makes you think it is? Have you taken temperature readings at different depths?

No just surface temp. Good point I guess. I don't know why I never realized or noticed this in the past. Guess I'm always learning something.

On Champlain I have seen thermocline at 50ft.  Definitely looks like it to me.

The real time side bar clearly indicates strong higher density signal returns displayed scrolling across the screen as dual cold water layers with warmer water above and below the colder thermo layers. This occurs when a cold front rolls through after several weeks warm weather or a cold water release from a dam above the lake. The cold water will sink and the water column may stabilize into a thermocline. A traditional thermocline doesn't have warm water under it.
