So....apparently some pathetic poor individual with low self-esteem has started what I can only describe as a "stupid" rumor that BassResource had - then deleted - articles about Mike Long on the website.

I just want to let y'all know that we NEVER, EVER had any articles about him on the site.

Never.

Hence, there's nothing to delete.

The rumor is not only baseless, but is 100% fabrication.  Not even a sliver of truth to it.  A pure fairy tale that thankfully, only a few mindless sheep would believe.

Just wanted to set the record straight so the jackasses creating fake news about BassResource can move on and make up some lies about some other site.

Thanks, and have a nice day!  :)

So you won't be deleting them then?... :)

I have to say that if BR or any other website has or had any articles or other content on this man, specially if they dated back to 2010 or 2012 or earlier when word of his actions were few and limited to the general SoCal area, they certainly couldn't be faulted. Indeed, I would question why a site about LMB wouldn't have some such content. I'm pretty sure every cycling publication had Lance Armstrong articles, even through all his denials.

We have a few articles that mention him - as a small part of an overall article about trophy bass fishing.  But we never had any articles about him.

What is gained in the accusation that you deleted old Mike Long threads?

If this were a site about NFL running backs & you deleted threads about OJ Simpson in 1994 following his wife's murder, I can't see how that would be a negative or something that could be held against you.  A person had a public persona, turns out they were fooling the public, eliminating references to them is no big deal.  I wouldn't do it, but if a website owner chose to, I can't imagine what negative they could be accused of.

I can personally vouch for this. A couple of years ago I worked for Bass Resource looking for copyright infringements on ALL the articles posted on this web site. I can unequivocally confirm that there were NO articles on this site about Mike Long when I swept through them. NONE.

While I'm sure @Glenn appreciates the vouching it is not necessary. This whole forum is run with the utmost professionalism and there is no reason for any of us to think Glenn would lie or cover anything up. My time on this forum has been very enjoyable due to the fact that there's no foul language or reprehensible conduct allowed. I also enjoy the fact that we can spar a bit as long as the hits are above the belt. That makes for an enjoyable conversation.

I don't know why it would even matter if there had been articles here about him. It was only 5 years ago when his behavior first went public but even that wasn't anything like what came out like a week ago. Locally we now know he was known as a fool, a liar, and a cheat, but it's not like the world knew that.

Really, Glenn, is that necessary?  Just correct the record. Don't jump in the mudhole with them.

Being new to these forums and just reading/watching all the recent mike long press... i must say i am very happy that he was never put up on a pedestal on this site as the "big bass guru" he worked so hard at fooling people into thinking he was. Good Riddance. Those videos of him snagging fish made me sick.

I wonder if this was in reference to the various Mike Long threads that were deleted.

Perhaps the person making these claims is not aware of the difference between an article or a forum thread.

My dad calls everything he reads on the internet an "article"

None of them were deleted.  Go ahead and search for them. They're there.

I cant find the one that was originally posted here last week.

It had the link to the article on sdfish.com and the Mike Long Video.

WRB- started another thread that indicates the old one was no longer there.(We were discussing the controversy and then that other thread was deleted)

There would not have been a need to post a second thread if the original still existed.

I tried to post on that original thread and received a message indicating it no longer exists.

Can you point me in the direction to find the original thread?

How would anyone know Long was a flake unless you had first hand knowledge? As I memtioned before Long had a big following of some prominate trophy bass anglers, I didn't know him and had no reason to dought his reputation.

There were rumors as far back as 2007 being expressed on basing forums that Long was cheating in tournaments and had the big fish tank in his garage. I didn't pay much attention because it wasn't 1st knowledge and rumors are just rumors.

My point is if Glenn wouldn't know about Mike Long before the facts are substantiated and removes posts that violate his sites rules that are clearly listed. You couldn't ask for anyone more professional and honest then Glenn May.

Good lord that Long fellow is going to spend the rest of his life having to live with what he has done to the sport and to his name. It won't be pretty.

Take some young'uns fishing and forget this dude.

Definitely take some kids fishing.

On the flip side tho, I prefer to remember this idiot very clearly.

Sometimes the best life lessons don't only include what to do or how to act; but what not to do and how not to act.

Assuming I would play in a game allowing suffixes or unpunctuated contractions, I wouldn't play one worth only 2 points, I'd rather pass and get some better letters. Sorry, just nerded out, carry on....
