I have a Lowrance Gen 3 and use a Navionics + card.  I am getting ready to update, hopefully.  Is this unit able to detect which lake I am on or do I have to do something to select the lake?

I am sure it has GPS, so you should be fine.  It will place you on the correct body of water.  The only thing is if your lake is available on the unit/map card...

Even if your lake isn’t on the card, it will still show the lake and you on it, it just won’t have depth information.

Larry, Your Gen 3 Unit and Navionics + are a great combination.  When you get to your lake go to your Charts page and select go To Cursor in the right upper corner and your unit will show you at your location.  There is information on the Navionics website regarding what lakes are covered with 1 Ft Contours.  On the Navionics web page go to Products/Navionics GPS Plotter Charts/Navionics+Marine and Lakes/Under Coverage select your Region and click on Details/Then Click on See Lakes List.  Hope that helps!  <><

That's more of what I meant..
