chubaka Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Just started getting into the Steez. Between the Steez SV TW, Steez A, Steez CT SV which one would best suit an all around reel but mostly Jigs and t rigs? Quote
freelancer27 Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Depends on the lure weights I would say. I have all three and for me they have very different areas where they shine. For me: * CT SV TW: Lures from 1/8 - 3/8oz * Steez SV TW: Lures from 3/8-1/2 oz * Steez A: 1/2 - 1.5oz Of course the reels have a bit more wiggle room. If I had to pick one for an all around reel I would go with the Steez SV TW. Good line capacity, great all around spool that allows to throw light lures, skip lures really well and also can go up to heavier lures (1.5oz). And if you dont fish in the salt/brakish water this reel should do it. 1 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted June 10, 2019 Super User Posted June 10, 2019 I have the Steez SV TW and it is great for t rigged plastic (weighted and weightless) and light jigs. It's smooth and casts a mile. Is it worth the price tag?..... Maybe but I think the Antares is worth a look as well. Quote
ResoKP Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Personally, I use Steez A for jigs & t-rigs because I prefer the aluminum frame over magnesium. For heavier jigs & cover, I actually use the new 19 morethan which is an even more beefed up version of the Steez A. Steez A can be plenty versatile too if you're willing to swap in custom spools or even Steez SV or Zillion SV spools. TBH, all three will perform great but one major difference between the three are the weights. On all my jig rods I find that Steez A balances the best. If you are able to, try them on your rods before buying. To me, Steez SV or lighter would be borderline unpleasant on rods like FMJ or 893. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 10, 2019 Super User Posted June 10, 2019 Lure weights? The ability to cast light weights has little to do with what lure presentation to use. Smooth gearing and IPT has everything to do with presentation. Steez is a high end reel that cast good, select your choice based on line size you use and average casting distance and what you can afford. Tom Quote
LxVE Bassin Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 For jigs and t rigs I would suggest the SV. Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted June 10, 2019 Super User Posted June 10, 2019 The lightest lures, or if using to skip I recommend SV TW. I use mine for Ned rigging light stuff and can even skip it Medium distances under docks/overhangs... I use 20 lb braid/fluoro leader.. Quote
NathanDLTH Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 For me it’s a size thing, have larger hand so anything too small makes it uncomfortable for me. That said, I’ve owned the Steez A (swapped spools w/ Zillion) and it was great for anything I waned to throw. Currently own a Steez SV TW and that thing pitches, cast, and flips without effort, right now it has 16lb flouro for jigs and light t-rigs. It handles them well and makes fishing a joy. If you want an all purpose reel, I’d look at the Steez A, if you’re looking more finesse than the Steez SV is what you are after. Quote
