Gluing plastics

I see a lot of guys recommending super-gluing plastics to jig heads.  I've never done it, but I understand the why.  I was just wondering if it messes up the jig head.  Eventually that plastic will get torn up and have to be replaced.  Does it leave little chunks of plastic and glue residue on the jig head?  I just kinda see this making the jig life a little shorter.  But maybe it peels right off.  I don't know.

It will probably be stuck tight when you lose the jig.

 

When I do have to replace a trailer I just add a dab of glue and shove a new one on.

 

Super glue gel is what you should use.  Less is best.  It just takes a very small amount to hold a trailer.

As of now, I only glue my Z-Man Elaztech plastics to the jig head. I almost always lose the jig long before the Elaztech  plastic is worn out.

I use Loctite Super Gel when I have to glue plastic to the jig, works great. It will leave a little plastic if you want to take it off but you can use a knife and scrape/cut off the little plastic that is left on the jig.

I ALWAYS glue my plastics to my jig heads and yes, after switching a few out it does build up a glue/ plastic chunk residue. I simply scrape it off/ clean it up with a knife and carry on. The time and hassle it saves gluing vs re-rigging a swimbait after every cast is well worth adopting this technique.
