I've lived here over 20 years and I'm still not use to this. I know you folks, @Bluebasser86, up in Kansas are in the same boat. How in the heck do you do it?? They've even canceled all the schools around here for this event. I'll be up all day and all night...getting to old for this!

I'm second in command to open the safe shelters in our town. Our Captain who is first is out of town. I have been getting messages since 8:00 am to be prepared to go open them up at any time. Gonna be a looooong night.

Latest update from News 9 says the watch will expire at 10 PM. Just got to make it until then. Rain and storms will continue until 5 AM.

That they use "outbreak" to describe the highest activity level...

Stay safe!

I am glad I live in a pretty boring state in regards to potential life threatening weather/natural disasters.

Hey at least you get a warning.  My neck of the woods is expected to sustain a catastrophic 9+ earthquake at any moment.  They don't give you time to plan ahead for it.  So you have to plan as if it's going to happen today, every day.

You could always get an elephant. I thought I read some place they along with several other animals have been known to predict earthquakes.

Never mind what the other animals are just get the elephant.

@jbsoonerfan, don't know if you saw the Mangum tornado. I watched it on News 9, but this guy's video is a lot better. https://www.news9.com/clip/14827728/caught-on-camera-a-large-funnel-drops-down-near-mangum?fbclid=IwAR0syw4_amhiH5GHX7ZHNZfjaTaZz0fztjH9ufOXYaXhy5gFblg9Zmz-AGM

I think the line will cross over our homestead by 9 PM.

I’ve never seen this before. Our tv stations are carrying video of what is going on down  around Oklahoma City. That storm is suppose to be here about 4 AM. We’re going to get hit again tomorrow night.

Been glued to the TV all night. The kids and I have played UNO and various card games while watching the weather. Looks like we may be clear of tornado possibilities but we may see some rain and or storms. Finally made the kids go to bed and I'm about to follow suit. Got my radio on frequency just in case I get paged out but I think we escaped the worst this time.

Last tornado I saw, I was working at Cabela's in KC. Me and couple buddies went outside and watched it roll up the next road north of the store, destroying homes and trees along the way. The one before that, I was fishing a tournament at Cedar Bluff in western KS, staying in a rented double wide with a bunch of other guys. I guess the whole trailer was shaking so bad they thought we were done for, I don't know, I slept through the whole thing ?

Had one roll through our yard about a month ago, but it was just a little F-0 tornado. It picked my kayak up off the trailer and tossed it a little ways and completely destroyed a bale of straw and scattered it around the yard, twisted up some tall grass a little bit, but that was it.

Hope everyone is safe after the storms pass through.

We're ok, folks west of us were not as lucky. I guess there is some major flooding north of us. 2.25" here at the house. Been a long night, I'm hitting the sack.

We get a lot of tornados here’s in MS. What makes ours dangerous is you can’t see them. Between the rolling hills and pines you typically hear it before you see it. Which is usually too late. I’ve been lucky to avoid a few by hauling butt after the sky immediately turned orange and got still. When it goes completely still and the birds are all gone you know to get the heck out of there

At first glance, I thought you were suggesting elephants were worse than earthquakes.  But like Emily Litella (Gilda Radner, SNL), I stopped, smiled, and said "....oh, never mind!"

Is @Bluebasser86 still with us? I hope he's keeping his head above water. I was just watching the news and they were showing some pictures of Kansas, they got pounded with rain!

You sitting above water where you're at, @jbsoonerfan?

We are in the zone again tomorrow. Not near as bad looking as yesterday, but you just never know.

I just saw that. I thought I was going to visit a couple of my favorite lakes at the refuge. but they had barriers at the crossings. I couldn't see the one lake, but I could hear the water coming through the gates, really loud.

Thoughts and prayers to those in the area near Joplin, MO. They got some pretty bad damage in a nearby city Carl Junction this evening. Exactly 8 years since I was there during the awful tornado on May 22nd, 2011.

The last two nights the sirens have gone off. I hope it’s quiet tonight. I got to get some sleep.

Friend of mine lives in Carl Junction. I messaged him right after I heard. He said it was about a mile away so they got to watch as it tore the town apart.

More raining coming our way this week. I was a couple days after the high water mark, but this is the Marias De Cygnes river by my house at the 8th St bridge in Osawatomie, KS.

You should be very concerned. You can’t control water, electricity, hurricanes, or tornadoes. All four can cause a lot of havoc and destruction. Be safe my friend.
