Have any of you have any feed back on the side imaging sonar?  Are they worth the bucks?  It looks to me, from the advertisements, that they really show great detail of the lake, but the real world might be another story.

You bet they are. I have installed a 997 and fished it this weekend for the first time and it was amazing. I have not learned near what it will do, but sofar it is a wonder.

It is absolutely awesome. ONE PROBLEM. I have had one for a couple of years. Bought two new transducers at about $250.00 a piece installed, and had to send to the factory 3 times at $250.00 a time. Last time I sent it in, it was still under the 90 factory warranty form getting it worked on. I sent it in, and sent no money with it, (still under the 90 warranty), the tech did not (maybe could not) fix and put a note "Buy New Unit". So, go figure... a ton of money in and no unit.

Dgquail,  can you be more specific on what you spent to get down and what was wrong with the unit causing you to spend $250.00??

For those in the Lake Fork area we will be doing on the water demonstrations of the Humminbird Side Imaging unit during the Skeeter Owner's Tournament. Check out skeeterboats.com for information.
