Super User roadwarrior Posted April 23, 2019 Super User Posted April 23, 2019 Recently sent a Shimano Stella 2500FS in for service. Turnaround time was about a week and the charge was -$0- My, my, my... 7 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted April 23, 2019 Super User Posted April 23, 2019 I'm wondering if there would have been a charge if the reel was a $50-$70 reel instead of a $700 reel. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 That’s especially impressive given the number of small washers and spacers in a Stella. Most of us charge a surcharge to work on them. Who knows how far they took it down though. Quote
JackKlassen Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 You think they'd service my E7s for free if I sent them in? Quote

The only reason I went with Shimano's service center was because this reel is JDM and if parts were required (and they were), I thought they might be hard to come by and a headache for you. BTW, Shimano USA does not generally service JDM reels, but apparently in my case the bearing and shield (?) were interchangeable with other Stella 2500. 1 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted April 27, 2019 Super User Posted April 27, 2019 You are lucky and I am glad they you got it fixed, especially for free. My experience has not been that great with their reel repair service. Quote
Camjuno Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 My one friend had to send in an Antaries DC ( I think that’s how you spell it ) for service after having it for a couple weeks and it took nearly 4 months for them to return it. I love Shimano it’s probably my favourite real company but I find sometimes there services are Hit or miss. Glad to hear yours was so quick and painless ?? Quote
Super User Further North Posted April 30, 2019 Super User Posted April 30, 2019 I sent in a Calais DC a while back, had it back in less than a week, new gear, new bearing and a tune up, for $30. Quote
onenutinthewater Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Sent in a Chronarch MGL this winter- back in 3 weeks with new main, pinion and maintenance. $25. Im just disappointed it happened after 15-20 steelhead. Quote
