For everything you hear about G. Loomis, one thing you don't hear talked about is their "Spin Jig" rods. From what I can see its similar to the Mag Bass series with slower blanks. I have a GLX 852S and love it but could use something a bit softer as well. Has anyone tried the Spin Jig rods or the GLX in particular?

The 782 spinning rod in IMX GLX or NRX is a really good versatile rod

I have a 782 IMX.  I have had it for years and it is by far my favorite spinning rod.

I fish 5" worms, shaky and T rigged, tubes to 1/4 oz, lizzards, hula grubs etc.  I don't like much over a 1/4 oz head.  For the heavier ones I use my St. Croix Avid.

Thanks for the input. I was thinking of getting the 842 GLX as a dropshot/all around finesse stick. Not a fan of the 822DSR so hoping to substitute it for that.

The only SJR rods that I have are a pair of short MagLight/XFast IMX ones and I love them.  Good sensitivity and and the power/taper is  the best I have found for small plastics and tiny jigs.

I use a Loomis IMX SJR 781 for my finesse fishing. I'm using heads ranging from 1/32 up the 1/8. IMO this is the perfect rod as the softer tip works for the reel set hook sets I use. 14 lb braid/ 4 lb fluor combo on a Shimano Stradic Ci4 1000 lets me make long casts.

i fished the GL3 842S for years. love that rod. i used it for an all purpose rod. I have switched to an E6X 892S rod because I wanted something even longer and love that rod too.

they are not quite as powerful as their mag bass cousins, but i wouldn't call them soft either. They have a pretty powerful butt section.

I had a SJR 721 for years. It’s a 6’ fast action light power rod. The spin jig rods and the MBR rod have some of the best tapered blanks ever made. The light 721 is a fantastic smallmouth jig rod, the longer versions and 722 or any 2 power rod would be great. I wouldn’t say they were slower than the MBR blanks.
