Matt_3479 Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 I just stumbled across a smoking deal on a brand new nrx 853c, so of course I snagged it. I wasn’t in the market for this particular model so my first though was to sell it/trade it for a model I’m looking more for 893c, 852s. Right now I have the new glx 822s drs, 852c and 894c. I wasn’t sure what the 853c would be best for or if it is better to try and trade for the 893 or 852s Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted March 31, 2019 Super User Posted March 31, 2019 What exactly were you thinking of using an 893c for? Because the 853c is essentially the same rod, just 4 inches shorter. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted March 31, 2019 Super User Posted March 31, 2019 I would say keep it and use it for jigs and Texas Rigged Soft Plastic. Quote

I was hoping the 893c could be for senko’s, flukes, and larger tubes and stuff in deeper water. I don’t fish a ton of deeper water stuff though, just told the 893 is a little better then the 853. The other trade is the 852s as I need a good medium power spinning rod. I have a kistler helium medium heavy fast that is similar to the 853. 1 hour ago, FishTank said: I would say keep it and use it for jigs and Texas Rigged Soft Plastic. I have most of that covered with the 852c, kistler helium (which I would consider selling) or the 894. Wondering if the 853 excelled at anything other then what it’s labelled for (jig and worm). It was an impulse buy as the price was good, but really wanted the 852s or 893c Quote
Matt_3479 Posted April 1, 2019 Author Posted April 1, 2019 How does it fish smaller kietechs on a swimbaits head, or topwater like popper or a rover/spook? I’d be willing to keep the rod if it handled them okay, cause it might make a nice rod for docks and skipping Quote
Stephen B Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 The 853 will be perfect. IMO it isn't worth attempting to sell and ship for the 893 but ultimately goodluck with what you decide. 1 Quote

Unless it was a straight trade I can’t imagine selling. to sell, and purchase another I’d loose a few hundred for sure and can’t imagine that on an unfished rod! 1 Quote
