Hi guys, long time reader first time poster here,

After 2 years of using my hand-me-down baitcasting rod off of my grandpa, it finally kicked the bucket and snapped into 3 peices.

So im in the market for a new one. However I don’t know a massive deal about which rods are “better” or which rod to use for which specific purpose.

I should probably mention that I am from Australia not America so I know it’s a little bit different. But I’m sure it’s the same sort of thing I’m not stressed about importing a rod from Japan or America I just need some suggestions.

I am mainly throwing small inline spinners or small soft plastics to catch Redfin - “European perch”, smaller Murray cod or silver/golden perch.

I have a heavier rod already for when I’m targeting larger fish so I’m in the market for a “finesse” baitcasting rod any suggestions would be appreciated thanks a lot ? I don’t REALLY have a budget but obviously I wouldn’t be overly keen on getting something worth $800 and preferably a 2 peice for travel purposes.

I’ve been searching for a week and getting sick of using my overly heavy slow action rod haha. Thanks in advance

E-Bay has a lot of JDM 2 piece rods. Just pick your manufacturer of choice and scroll away. Major Craft has some good stuff as well as Shimano.  Welcome to the forums.

If you're not throwing over 1/4 oz., see whether your market has the Daiwa Spinmatic D trolling rod. It's a casting rod built on the same blank as the Spinmatic D ultralight spinning rod. It actually has a fast action. And it's priced very reasonable. I have a Curado 70 on mine, and I can cast 1/8 oz. lures with accuracy and good distance. In your market, Kuying has some lighter power rods, too.    jj
