Spiderwire 100% Fluoro vs Berkley Trilene Professional Grade 100% Fluoro

I've been using 200yd spools of Spiderwire 100% fluoro from Walmart for ~$9.50/spool - I use 8, 10, and 12lb test (for leaders or as main line). 

 

BPS has 200 yd spools of Berkley Trilene Professional Grade 100% Fluorocarbon Line on sale during the Spring Classic for $10-$11 (depending on lb test). It's a substantial reduction in price from the $20-$22 retail price they sell it at. I haven't pulled the trigger on this because I don't know enough about it. The sale ends in a few days.

 

I compared the line diameter of each brand at each lb test and they are identical. So there's no gain in line strength per diameter (for example, smaller diameter line but equal breaking strength). I've only used Spiderwire so I don't have anything else to personally it compare against and I don't think there are any other manufacturer-stated properties of each line to compare other than the line diameter and the fact they both say 100% Fluorocarbon. 

 

Is the Berkley Trilene Professional Grade so much better of a line than Spiderwire that it retails for double what Spiderwire does?

I don't have experience with either line, but here's what I would be asking myself:  Do I have any complaints about the Spiderwire 100% Fluoro that I'm currently using? What am I looking for my fluorocarbon line to do better? Handle better? More sensitive? Less stretch? More stretch? More abrasion resistance?

 

Then I'd buy some of the Trilene while it's still on sale and see if it's "better".

It's absolutely worth it. At $10 a spool, STOCK UP! I love the stuff.  It's super strong. 17lb and up gets pretty stiff so I'll usually go with a different brand for that but 6-15lb are all great.

I have tried them both. The berkely is a lot more supple in the 6-15lb range. Also knot strength is musch better with the Berkeley when compared to the spiderwire (in my experience). At the price it is it wouldn't hurt to try.

Try some KVD Line & Lure on the higher lb test lines. 

It'll make a 20# act a lot lower.

I’ve never used the spider wire, but have several big bulk spools of Berkley 100% fluoro, it’s all I use any more for fluoro. Good stuff for me on spinning and casting rigs from 8-20lb test ??

The Berkley is far superior in my opinion.  I'd give seaguar red label a try tho. Cheaper than the Berkley and everyone I know is impressed.  Half price right now at cabelas I believe

Spiderwire 100% fluoro has always worked great for me . no problems whatsoever, but I haven't tried Berkley

I have been using the 6lb test Berkley FC on spinning gear since it came out and have always had great success.  I like their 6lb better than Invizx 6lb but prefer the 12lb Invizx to the Berkley 12lb.  In both cases I find the lines to be more manageable at the given weight. 

 

At BPS's sale price, it's a steal.  I would stock up. Also, I can't speak for the Spiderwire, I have not seen it in stores locally and I don't know of anyone who uses it.
