dam0007 Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 I throw 15lb FC for chatters. I love my DC 734C plus it’s a crazy versatile rod. Like the stiffer rod with the FC. That 73, 5 or 6 glass rod guys like from my experience use braid. Quote

These sticks performed as I had hoped; perhaps even a little better than I had expected. At the end of the season, I contemplated switching to glass, just to see. Prior to falling in love & eventually using these composite sticks, much of my 'moderate rod' needs were met by a couple of classic fiberglass rods spun up by Lamiglas. Always enjoyed fishing them but they had been sort of put up and forgotten about recently. Mostly because I always felt the handles were a little too short. Decided to fix that and place them back into active duty. After a brief stint in the A-Jay custom rod shop, the overhaul was complete. Matched them up with EXO 200's & 20lb Tatsu and we are good to go. Love the Hawg Tech handles on these btw. A-Jay Was searching the forums for glass rods when this popped up, WOW! I had one of those, but I can't remember if I loaned it to my brother or one of my boys. I need to find it and take it back, it was a good rod. Lamiglas should bring that one back. BTW, good job on the handle. 1 Quote

Compared to much of the more recently produced gear, these stick are a little hefty, and take some acclimation. But, I'm still liking enjoying the experience. Hope you find yours. A-Jay 1 Quote

It is a nice rod, but I am still looking for something else while using it. I have a glass crankbait rod I throw lighter chatters on and love it. It is waaaaay underpowered, but for some reason I love it and catch a lot of bass with it. This is why I use the Champion 736 glass. More power but not too stiff. Add me on the bandwagon for Dobyns 736 glass. Quote

Super User NorthernBasser Posted June 9, 2019 Super User Posted June 9, 2019 Bought a 7'2" med/heavy moderate action Kistler KLX Feel N Reel for chatterbaits and cranks. This thing is perfect for chatterbaits. It's a graphite rod but the top 1/4 of the rod is fused fiberglass. Quote

My 735 CB glass is lighter (rated 1/4-1oz.) than the 736 and I still find to have more power than what I like. I still use it for heavier Chatters, but prefer the feel of a “mushier” glass rod. I don’t know what it is. Maybe I am crazy. I don’t lose fish on it and seem to still get hook sets on it. I would love to find a glass rod with a little more power, but still have more “mush”. Totally contradictory, I know. Quote
TxHawgs Posted June 9, 2019 Author Posted June 9, 2019 I'm really happy w the IMX PRO, very light. Throwin my Keitechs and chatterbaits on it. Gonna pick up another for big CBs. Quote

Jeffrey Walker Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 I know this is an old thread but what is a good reel for the Dobyns 736 glass for chatterbaits? Quote

If you want distance a Lew's BB1 LFS is ur best bet. Comes in 3 different ratios left and right handed. Quote
