I was telling my son about my worn Shimano stradic yesterday, and how I was considering either fixing it or replacing it.

He went and bought me a new Shimano Nasci 3000hg, which is the comparable size to my stradic. I am thrilled at his generosity, but was wondering what experience y'all have had with the nasci line.?

I would have bought a few more  Symetres over the last couple of years. It’s been replaced by the Nasci. As good if not better. No problems with them.

I have a couple of NASCI reels that were intended for ultralight rods. However, from my kayak where a big spool of line isn't all that necessary nor great casting distance, just because I am short a spinning reel, I have used a 1000 NASCI on a ML rod with really good success fishing for bass.

Of course, if you use back reeling, it is a no go. And, no, it isn't a Stradic Ci4+, but at 40% of the price it is 80% of the better reel.

I think you will really like this reel, may decide to never return to the higher end models. No doubt that many have done this very thing a "step up on the quality ladder" by choosing a Stradic Ci4+  . . . or several of them . . . over owning one Shimano Stella.

Fantastic reel. I have 3 seasons on mine (1000 size) and it's working like new.

It's the best spinning reel I have. In my humble opinion it's the best $100 spinning reel on the market.

Agree 110%

They claim there is a seal in them that the Symetre did not have. Helps keep it dry if it takes a dunk. I have not had to repair or rebuild any yet. I’m fishing the 2000 series. Great reel.

The old Stradic reel went real cheap at the new introduction. Should have bought a few but like many guys I just can’t lay out that kind of $$$ just to have a reel set around. There was nothing wrong with the old Stradic design.

When are we going to see the pictures of the first fish you catch with it?

I own the 3000 and 5000 for inshore and some light saltwater applications such as throwing plugs and spoons off the surf/pier I have used both reels for over 2 years now and they are the best spinning reels for the money I have ever owned. I sold my diawa bgs after the Nascis did so well.

What Stradic model did you have and what was "worn" about it?

Not sure of the model anymore. There’s nothing on it to indicate it either. It’s slightly bigger than what most bass fishermen would use on average.

The gears are worn . I can still use it and catch smaller fish but if I hook a bigger fish the handle won’t turn and the fish get off. I’m going to fix it someday but got more important “ fish to fry “ at the moment. That reel is by far my favorite one Ever.

I have the stradic ci4+, 2 stradic ci4’s, a stradic fk 2500 and 1000, and a nasci 2500. It has lasted 3 seasons of hard fishing and still going strong! It is smooth and an excellent 100 dollar reel! Highly recommend them

Absolutely ! My Stradic  is 10 years old or so, and I have caught hundreds of bass ( probably over a thousand) on it.

It remains to be seen how the Nasci will do. I like everything so far except that it seems that the bar that connects the reel to the rod is a little shorter than the Stradic, so my big hand sometimes gets in the way when turning the handle. It also creaks when I reel in at the same place which doesn’t bother me too much, but I’ve never had one do that before.

Seems like the Nasci is the improved version of the shimano sahara which i absolutely love.

I bought one last year and have been very happy with it.  I'm primarily a Stradic guy with 2-2500 Ci4's, a 2500 FJ, 2500 FK and a 2000 FG.
