livin2fish Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 The Terrova turning gears are making significantly more noise (grinding) when turning to the right vs turning to the left. Left turn sound is normal (whirring sound), like when originally purchased 12 years ago. Have searched You Tube but haven't found this particular problem addressed. Wondering if anyone on this forum has had this particular problem. 1. Do these gears require lubrication? 2. Is it likely continued use will cause an eventual breakdown? Thanks, any help is much appreciated. Quote
kenmitch Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 The gears in the steering housing are probably worn out. https://www.walleyecentral.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-614466.html If it was me I'd probably just replace the whole assembly and be done with it. Quote
livin2fish Posted February 18, 2019 Author Posted February 18, 2019 Thanks Kenmitch for the reply. I would never have found the information on the other forum. Based on that information, it seems like your suggestion of replacing the whole assembly is the best way to go. Again thanks. Quote
BFC Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 I have a new (bought brand new 4 months ago) Ulterra and am having the same exact issue that DINK was having in this thread. Just curious if DINK replaced the steering housing? My Ulterrra is brand new and can't imagine the gears already being worn out. THNX Quote
BFC Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Any Ulterra users ever open up the steering housing and lubricate the parts associated with the steering motor? Quote
