Shane Y Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Anybody have experience with these models? Specifically the plus model with the 3in1 transducer Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted January 25, 2019 Global Moderator Posted January 25, 2019 Plus model no, but the previous Echomap yes. The only major difference is the Plus is touch screen. Whatcha wanting to know? Quote
Shane Y Posted January 26, 2019 Author Posted January 26, 2019 Pretty much all of it...how are the images? I've seen some impressive images coming from humminbird. All I have done is a ton of reading and I'm about set on that Garmin unit. I've used a ton of Garmin products hunting with dogs but never a sonar. Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted January 26, 2019 Global Moderator Posted January 26, 2019 I'm guessing the Humminbird images you're referring to are from the MEGA units which are awesome. You won't get that from Garmin. It's not comparing apples to apples, different frequencies are being used. As far as the Echomap units go they're a good unit. The images are good, rocks look like rocks on CV and SV. You can see fish on both. The plus side in my eyes is the Quickdraw capabilities, you can create your own maps and the store is something like 3 or 4 million acres which is more than you'll ever use. Other units you need to buy a $90 card to save more than 8 hours of mapping. Hope this helps Quote
Shane Y Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 Yes sir it does. I'm looking real hard at this unit. Quote
redbirdsfan44 Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 I’ve used both the echo maps plus 93sv and Humminbird mega units. The echomaps unit is definitely the better bang for the buck. Humminbird keeps raising the price every year for minuscule changes. The 2d sonar with the GT-52 transducer, which is standard withe the 93sv, is much better than the Humminbird. You won’t see crystal clear side and down imaging like you can with mega but if you get the HD box for the Garmin it’s pretty dang clear. Garmin has the easiest user interface out of any brand of fishfinders. Another upside to Garmin is the ability to add panoptix/livescope. I run 2 helix 9 G2N units with mega, and I’ve been a Humminbird guy for years, but with the way things are going I’ll be switching to Garmin in the near future. 2 Quote
Shane Y Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 Thank you sir! How can I be sure that I order that HD box? Quote

jaimeastin Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 I have the echomap 74SV that is the previous model. I just ordered the echomap 93SV from cabelas for $600. Bass pro will be selling it for $600 with bonus bucks and triple crown rewards on the 15th. They will be selling the echomap 73SV for $499. I am only upgrading because I am getting the panoptix live scope and only the previous version is compatible with my echomap… I have only used garmin units... I got a Lowrance with my boat that I hate. I bought a Lowrance hook2 that I hated... I ordered a Lowrance 7Ti, gen 1, that will arrive tomorrow with my echomap. I will be returning it most likely. Of all the units I have tried, the garmin just makes since is very easy to use. It is hard not to find the most value with the garmin units. They don't have the best image like hummingbird with mega, but garmin is not gouging you for the unit. You get all you need out of the garmin model you select. I found myself struggling to find a humming bird or Lowrance unit with the same price and features. Shhhhh, this is the add they have not release yet. I got it a few days ago. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/online-catalogs?catalogCode=BassPro/SFC_19_50_tab 1 Quote
RHuff Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 I started a thread before I saw this but I'll ask here too. I have the old 73sv chirp on my dash. I want to buy the new 93sv plus chirp and mount it at my dash and move the 73sv chirp to my bow to mount at my trolling motor. Do you know if it's possible to be able to data share waypoints from each unit? Quote

Time off 1965 Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Finally made the jump from Lowrance to an Echomap 93sv plus. My question is, can I transfer my old waypoints from my Lowrance LCX unit (via sd card) to the new Garmin unit? Thanks Quote

There are standard GPS file formats like waypoints. Companies like to make proprietary formats... what I would do is export the files from both units and comare the file contents in a text editor. You might be able to change the contents to make work with other. In previous times, I have written converters and such. I would be interested in doing the same. I just use garmin, so I cannot do it currently. Quote

You will be down imaging from 455kHz to 820kHz Side imaging goes from 800kHz to 1120kHz See my attached images. Those are down and side images taken from my cellphone, so no the best quality... The detail I now get with the UHD blackbox and GT transducer is amazing in comparison. Now I actually use side imaging. I know it will work with your echomap plus unit... I believe it will work with your echomap chirp units as well. d 1 Quote
