Who uses this Yo-Zuri Hybrid line?

I have read about more guys using this line. Never heard of it or tried it, what is the benefit of this line? What applications would it be good for?

I am using it. Currently have it on my cranking set ups, drop shot, tube and another spinning set up. I run braid and the use it as a leader. For me it has been great line. I fish a pretty rocky lake and it holds up well.

 

while it doesn’t have as much memory as floro it does have it. I use ardent line conditioner on it as I spool and then again before I hit the water. So far I can’t beat it for the price.

I bought a spool of this for my son. It's basically flurocarbon fused with monofilament, so it behaves like mono but is invisible like fluorocarbon. I had initially bought P-Line Fluroclear and we had all sorts of problems, I believe it was with some pretty severe line memory if memory serves me right. So I bought some Yo Zuri Hybrid, spooled that up and we used it for the rest of the season with no issues. It's fairly strong an abrasion resistant and lower stretch than straight mono and the memory isn't too horrible.

Need a line to put on my new deep crank set up. Was leaning towards 12# Seaguar Invizx fluero but would this be a good choice for this task? If so what test?

I use on 3 different setups.  I have the 6lb, 10lb and 15lb versions.  All are pretty good.  My only complaint is that the 6lb develops memory pretty quickly and can sometimes be unmanageable.

Use it on all my ultra light set ups. High breaking strength good knots. I love it.

I bought a spool to try on my crankbait setup. The only complaint I heard was about line above 15# test having some issues,

Until the local stores stopped stocking it, I used it for years.

I used it last year in 10lb. I am still not totally decided on it yet. The few backlashes I got were difficult to deal with as opposed to mono. But I think it does cast nice and seems to be strong..

I switched to 100% fluorocarbon about 10 years ago and came away disappointed with 2 primary things:

 

1) Too much stretch

2) Unmanageable

 

A friend recommended YZH and I was amazed at how much less stretch and noticeably less rats nests.  It’s a little thicker than most lines but you can easily go down a weight and still have an incredibly strong line, great abrasion resistance, flawless knots and better price than any fluorocarbon.  Just about as clear, sensitive and sink rate as well.  

 

Cant go wrong in my opinion...

Excellent for cranks.  12lb is perfect.  And if you use KVD line conditioner it's even better.  I have used it for two years on all of my treble hook presentations.

Thanks, I'm going to try it this spring on my CB setups. I use the 6lb on some spinning rigs.

A lot of guys reach for the tissues and lotion when talking about it. For me, it's just alright and nothing special. Now where's my BG and happy sock?...

The thing about this line is difference between the strength to diameter rating as it goes higher

12# is .013

15# is .016

But the 20# is measured at .017 only .001 larger than the #15. 

 

It is what it is but seems odd

I use it for jig fishing and like it. 10 lb test with KVD line conditioner.

I use it as a leader in 6, 8, and 10# tests.

 

Strong line. Diameter is larger, so 6 is more like 8, and

8 is more like 10# test as compared to some other lines.

But both have breaking points above ratings.

I used it for the first time last year.  Got a 600 spool on clearance (12lb).  I tried it for cranking and light T-rigs.  Didn't like it at all.  I found it to be just the opposite of what everyone is saying.  The stuff got BEAT UP around hard cover.  Could've gotten a bad batch I guess but I'm over it. It's relegated to backing now.

Thought it had way to much memory. But then again, I found a spool in my garage that had been there for ever so that’s on me. 

Hate to say it but the old 10lb Berkley mono has been fantastic on my crankbait rod.

I like Yozuri Hybrid in 8, 10 and 12lb test....for jerkbaits and crankbaits....but 75% of the time I still opt for basic monofilament

The hybrid ultra soft is very good for spinning applications and the straight hybrid can't be beat for baitcasters.  I like them both.  A lot.

Also, maybe this only applies to me but I found it is the absolute perfect line for walking the dog.  I love the Zara Spooks and I find that mono is too stretchy and braid is not forgiving enough.  I use a Med/Med rod and YZH and I consistently get comments from other fisherman about my ability to walk topwaters.  

 

For the sake of full disclosure I will tell you that, along the lines of @J.Vincent and @reason, it's time for me to respool all of my YZH reels and I've decided to fill them with 12lb Big Game for the year to compare the two.  I will leave YZH on my walk-the-dog set-up though.

12lb for bigger topwaters and traps

10lbs or 12 for chatterbait 3/8 to 1/2 Dobyns 705C or 736C Glass

10lbs for cranking 

10 lbs on light Texas Rig for 1/4oz to 3/8oz on NRX 803c

12 lbs on Beaf Texas Rig/Jigs for 3/8 to 1/2oz on NRX 873CCR

15lbs for 3/8 to 1/2oz dock skipping on 6'4 custom rod. 

 

The rest I have on spinning using braid line but 8 lbs leader.
