Some of us northerners got smacked by a pretty nasty blizzard yesterday and this morning. With the snow and the single digit and sub zero weather coming, it looks like we're finally done with until spring.

Sorting some tackle this morning I picked up a spinnerbait that brought back a cool memory from a couple summers ago. I was fishing a pond that is almost entirely surrounded by cattails, and they extend out several feet into the water. There's a particular gap on the shore that's just wide enough and in a good spot so that's where I fish when I do choose to fish there. I was fishing that spinnerbait when I saw a 1.5-2lb LMB dart out from the cattails to go whack my spinnerbait that was probably 10ft away. It happened so fast that my brain couldn't keep up. I never saw the bass hit the bait, I just saw it dart to it and then the rod loaded. Lots of lessons there.

That reminds me of a 6 + pounder I caught off a bed last January. It was bedding right in front of my bulkhead and all I had seen was the bed and the little buck gaurding the nest. Big mama VIOLENTLY attacked that spinnerbait about 10 feet from me. Never heard of many people catching bedding fish on spinnerbaits. It was the biggest bass I ever caught on one .

Sorry about the cold weather. I cant relate much to that right now ( temps in the 70s here  )?

Past few seasons, my memory lanes has been more like a 4 lane highway ~

With the long cold winters, I need every one.

My most recent 6 day trip south of the border was most memorable.

Second day, I watch my buddy hook, fight & land a 12 lb plus largemouth - biggest bass I've ever seen.

Image may contain: outdoor and water

(And he got a 10-8, Two casts later)

The next day, I had an 11lb plus Largemouth choke a swimbait right under the boat and then commence to lose her big, fat, green MIND !

Between the two of us, we caught quite a few respectable bass that trip, which included 53 over 7 lbs.

I watch those videos several times a week.
