pondbassin101 Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 I'm looking for a 6'6" medium power mf/f action spinning rod that I can buy for pretty much under $60. I've had two Berkley lightning rod shocks, and by some stroke of misery both broke about a foot above the first guide. I like the rods but don't know if I want to risk purchasing another one. I'm pairing this with a Pflueger President, size 30. I fish alost with casting gear and I mostly pondhop, so I don't need anything too crazy. Quote

They are usually about $70 if you can go a little more. I have not gotten to use mine a lot since I bought them but they seem to be good rods. Quote

They're extremely durable, available in strength and lengths no other rod is available in, with features also not found anywhere else. An example is their USSP601H. It's the heaviest action, shortest rod (6') with the shortest handle (8") on the market and I bought my three for less than $45 (each) delivered. For me it's the perfect frog rod for hard fighting fish like southern snakeheads in close quarters, especially on my tin boat. That short handle doesn't clank on my bench seat or my fishing vest, and the short rod is perfect in densely wooded canals. Quote

You aren't missing fishing time, most likely. When is the next "sale date," like Black Friday? Ebay sellers with 99+ % approval ratings can be trusted, in my experience. But as all are saying, find a rod on sale as far below its list price as possible, and you'll have a good rod at $60. 1 Quote

I have some Ugly stix that I use for fishing Striper top water frenzy or lend to friends when they come along. The Ugly stick is very durable but are heavier and less sensitive. Quote

That honestly might be the best course of action at this point. The nearest Cabelas is in Atlanta, but Bass Pro is a viable option. When exactly do these sales start? Quote
