They are both rated the same ML/Fast 1/8 to ½ oz. The top one is a St Croix 7' ½ and the bottom is a 7' Dobyns.
Do I r eally need that much butt? I want to be able to cast it as far as possible.

The st Croix you show in the picture is the mojo inshore, not a bass rod which is why the butt is longer. As for the Dobyns fury I own both the medium (fr703) and medium light (702) 7’ spinning rods and I would personally buy the medium for the weights you want to fish especially the 1/4oz. The medium light imo is too light to comfortably fish a 1/4oz jig. My 702 is primarily used for 1/16 and 1/8oz jigs

Who had the bright idea that spinning rod reel seats should match casting ones? No foregrip on a spinning rod is silliness.

I just picked up  Dobyns C703 and C704, (like 'em) and wanted to get one of the spinning rods, (cause I read online your rods should match :) ) but I fish with all fingers in front of the reel foot, so that won't work.

I'd guess that either (with well matched line) can cast a 3/16 oz jig farther than I can detect a bite AND set the hook.

I don’t own any dobyns rods but thought about getting them, and I’m ocd and like things to match, and didn’t like the spinning rods. I wondered how it would be if the reelseat was flip flopped and why they weren’t. I also don’t like reelseats where your hand is on threads and hardly any cork or eva.

Seth Feider designed a Daiwa Elite spinning rod JUST for casting light hair jigs. It's long and extra whippy for super light tackle. It's the 7'6 ML model.

Same here. I've been researching a new spinning rod for about a month and have eliminated A LOT of rods based just on the reel seat.

@bass,n bob I've never fished with it, but one of the rods I'm looking at is the St. Croix Mojo Bass 6'10" MLXF Drop Shot/Finesse rod. I mention this rod (without having fished it) because you listed a Mojo Bass rod in your original post.
