Just a reminder MN-BR get together this week:

•Weds, April 3 at 5:00

•”The Local” at West End (St. Louis Park near 394/100)

•Table reserved under “Fry”

Hope to see you then...

I'll be there in spirit. It's just a little to far from Lindstrom.  Tough to miss an opportunity to talk fishing with fellow bassheads.    Maybe a meet-up on the water on some north metro lake could be in the future.    A mini weeknight BR derby perhaps.  Enjoy the evening, all.

I'm not going to be able to make it tonight. I'm currently job hunting and a recruiter booked a call with me at 4pm. I need to take this call at home.. and I live way up in the north metro.

I have a couple of Huk shirts to give away too if anyone wants them.  I bought a bunch Daiwa equipment recently and got the promo shirts... more than I can ever wear.

With my massive pipes I usually wear a size Large, but Huk fits big so these are Mediums that fit like a Large.  Happy to drop off if I’m in your area or can mail for the cost of shipping.

PS - the green logo shirt looks rather fetching with the MN-BR hats if you want me to throw one of those in too ;)

A couple MN-BR hats are left, send me a PM if you want one.  Those of you that have already claimed one, I will mail out in the next couple days..

Right when lakes are ready to go ice free...there’s a forecast of up to a foot or more of snow in the forecast. Is this a joke? This happened last April and it broke a record.

Despite the snow forecast for Thursday, with the next two days being near or above 60 with sun, I think the winter-storm will have little to no effect on the ice-melt this year. Cruising around my part of Minnetonka, most of the ice is 'black' with numerous holes scattered throughout. I think the ice will be gone fairly soon here.

Is that right? Good to hear.

Ice is out on mpls lakes the impending storm shouldn't effect anything.

The majority of the lakes I drive by on my way to work in the NE Metro are either ice off or have very small sections of ice remaining. Now I really need to get I disagree in gear and finish my boat projects!

Nice to know someplace in the Metro is open.Smaller bodies of the Minnetonka chain like Black Lake and Tanager Lake are about 50% clear. The larger bays such as Spring Park, Lafayette, Smiths and Browns (the ones I passed today on an errand) are still about 90% ice-covered.

A big thank you to FryDog.  I will wear it proudly.

Just came back and the larger bays are still mostly ice-socked - Spring Park, Lafayette, Smiths and Browns are 75%-80% covered. However, if you want to wet a line, Black Lake is ice-free...though you'll have to stand in a few inches of heavy, wet snow to cast. Maybe some early season sunnies and crappies?

Give it another week and the ice around here will be gone.

I'm definitely going to get some things done on my boat this weekend. Maybe bring her home next week?

I only got two major things left for the canoe. Rod rack and the trailer mod. Some minor things, but those two will be enough to get out with. If the weather cooperates, maybe by next weekend.

The weather never cooperates around here.

Well, painting the new trailer tongue CAN wait...that's the only thing I need a warm, sunny day for.

I got some rigging done today. I found a crazy deal on a HDS7 carbon a while back so I installed it. I can't afford a fancy mount at the moment so I'm just going to run dual Ram's for the time being. What's cool is my HDS12 on the bow has two network ports so it's stupid easy to connect Lowrance units to share data. I'm going to run maps on one and sonar on the other.

I'm an offshore finesse kinda guy, so i'm excited not have to do split-screen maps/sonar anymore.

Got my new Ultrex installed and new seals put in my hydraulic steering over the weekend. Just need to get one of my livewells to stop leaking and I should be good for the season.

I am still fundraising for the upcoming St. Jude Bass Classic if anyone is willing to donate to help a great cause. If I can get to $4500 of my $5000 goal I pledge to donate the last $500 to get us to our goal. Here is a link to donate.

I truly appreciate anything anyone is willing to donate to this great cause!

Need to snap a couple and I'll put the up.

Heading to Wabasha this Saturday for a boat shake down and some fishing. Not expecting much on the fishing side, but who knows. Will have a full report to follow.

Heading down to Okoboji in Iowa Friday/Saturday. They were ice out a few weeks ago so hoping to get on something. Crazy how much difference 3 hrs makes in terms of climate. Will report on how we do.
