E-DOG Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 I just got the daiwa Fuego LT 2500 for finesse fishing for Christmas and after playing with it for a few days It sounds a bit noisy.. it feels smooth but makes what sounds like a scuffing noise every oscillaton of the spool going up and down. sh-sh-sh-sh is how I would describe the noise. could it be that the reel needs to be lubed? I'm afraid that if I lube It and it doesnt fix it if Tacklewarehouse wont let me exchange for another. i can't stand when something is wrong with my equipment because I'm super anal about my gear. any feedback will be greatly appreciated 1 Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted December 31, 2018 Super User Posted December 31, 2018 Get some Abu Garcia Precision Grease. Remove the spool and lube the main shaft, nothing else. If it cures the noise, you're good to go. If it doesn't, contact Daiwa and follow their advice. jj Quote

cadman Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Since it's new, and it doesn't sound right just return to to TW and get a new one. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 Please be aware that grease on your spool shaft will slow down the spool. Spool shafts should be dry. I polish mine. Quote

Super User iabass8 Posted January 1, 2019 Super User Posted January 1, 2019 I've had the same reel for over a year. Mine's made a faint "woosh" noise if I reel it really fast with nothing attached. On the water it doesn't show itself. It's normal. I polish all the internals of my reels. Still a super smooth reel. If you're worried about it just return it for a new one. 2 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 Oopsy daisy. Sorry bout that.... no 2500 baitcasters LOL Quote
Crankin4Bass Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 A drop of oil on the spool shaft should take care of the noise. 1 Quote
Dorado Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 @E-DOG I ordered that exact same Daiwa Fuego spinning reel and it came into the mail a couple days ago. It makes the exact same sound as you described with each oscillation. I haven’t put line on it yet because it’s really bothering me and I’m thinking about returning it. Did you ever get it to run quietly? Quote

Did you ever get it to run quietly? hey, sorry for the late reply but I exchanged for another and this time it makes some noise but is not as noisy as the first one. as I spooled line on I couldn't hear the sound. yes it still makes some noise but not an unbearable amount. I think this reel might have a break in process because in the shop the lt lineup of spinners seemed like they were quieter reels, I think this is because they have been turned alot and maybe been broken in? I don't know. Quote

I don't know. I couldn’t bear it. I even went to Cabales and a local tackle shop to have the guys demo the exact same reel, straight out of the package, and same issues. Even the tackle shop owner couldn’t believe it. I exchanged it for a Pflueger Supreme 30x and couldn’t be happier. It’s light for its profile, super quiet, and smooth like butta! No more Daiwas for me Quote
CrankFate Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Spinning reels. ?♂️ Get a baitcaster. Quote
CrappieJohn Posted June 24, 2020 Posted June 24, 2020 I have a Daiwa Procyon LT 2500 and it is doing the same thing. It was fine at first but after fishing 10 hours with it, it developed a light grinding noise. I am going to try light lube on the spool shaft. Quote
