Top water and frog rod all in one?

I'm looking at getting a new rod set up to do froging and other top water stuff like buzz baits, whopper ploppers, etc. Money isn't infinite so ideally I'd like this one setup to handle all of these kinds of things. But are these so different from each other that one rod isn't going to be able to do all this? If it were I assume I'd want a graphite rod, maybe 7' to 7'6" and maybe a MH or H? Probably a fast action? Point me straight here please!

IMHO a frogging rod and a regular topwater rod are no where near the same.

I agree, I use three different rods for the three baits you mentioned.

Frog: 7'+ H/XFast with heavy braid

Buzzbaits 7'+ MH/XF 30# Tuf-LineSupercast

Whopper Plopper 8' XH/fast with 20# copoly.

For me its two different rods depending on cover/where I'm fishing. 

Around the house here in upstate SC: 6'10 falcon HF new lowrider, light to medium cover, yes it's shorter than recommended but it's a little more accurate and controlled. Mostly fishing those baits around docks, laydowns and random stretches of bank. 

In FL: Dobyns Savvy 734 with some 50# braid. 

What's posted above is technically ideal but for multiple techniques on one rod you can compromise a little bit.

I have a Megabass Hyugra 72H that I use for toads, 6" glidebaits, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, and ploppers.  It's a XH/R rod and I use 40lb braid with it. The tip isn't great for walking a frog, but I use it for them pretty often and the slower taper really keeps them on the hook.  Never fished a buzzbait on it but it does well other single hook moving baits.

It's doable with one rod, but it will be a compromise on each. I am more picky about my frog rod, I have a dedicated 7' MH than fishes on the heavier side with a soft tip and locks out in the top third.  I throw buzzbaits on my big spinnerbait rod, That ploploplop monstrousity, I don't do, but either rod would work I guess.

Well the whole reason I was thinking about it I came across a great deal locally to buy a brand new Lews 6'10" or 7'2" (mh1sh610mh or mh1sh72mh) for 20 bucks. I really don't NEED either but at such a great deal I didn't want to pass on them. But I'd like to have an idea of what I'd ideally do with them or what Id really use them for before I buy either.

Use them for what you want, make some adjustments with line choice.  It ain't always about having the perfect rod for the technique.  Sometimes you just use what have, the fish don't usually mind.

What rod are you using Reason?

I’m looking for a lighter frog rod than I have now.

The plopplopplop is a fish catching machine.

Not sure,  I'll go look and let you know. It's pretty old and not a high end stick. I've tried a lot of other things, and haven't found anything I like better.  

 

A little chilly in the garage. I don't think it's made anymore. I bought it in a VA Beach DSG, I want to say like sometime in 2002-2003 or so. Quest LS-7, C701MH70. It's labeled IM7, and rated for 10-20 lb line and 1/4-1 oz, but I think 3/8 is the lower end on it in reality. I bought it to fish in Norfolk, and I've landed some cobia and striped bass on it. It became my frog rod by accident, but it just works for that.
