EGbassing Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 Caught this dink on a fluke this afternoon. I was lucky to land him because I accidentally pressed the spool down before setting the hook. Took me about five seconds to get up all the slack and set the hook but he was still on. I didn't weigh it but I think it's safe to say that it was at least ten pounds, right? ? Does my face make you feel uncomfortable? 10 Quote

Yeah, it wasn't exactly topwater because he hit it when it was a few inches below the surface, but close enough. 1 hour ago, Catt said: At 67 not much makes me feel uncomfortable ? I got a football head jig and jerkbait ready though. 1 Quote

Super User burrows Posted November 9, 2018 Super User Posted November 9, 2018 No I haven’t used it but I like favorite and I recognized it. Lots of younger fishermen use them I’ve seen them a lot around here. 9 minutes ago, EGbassing said: Yup. What are your thoughts or opinions on it ? Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted November 9, 2018 Super User Posted November 9, 2018 My first fish was a fluke, too. Come to think of it, MOST of my fish have been flukes. Does your face make me uncomfortable? No. But that full head of hair does. Wish I had all my hair. 1 Quote
Super User burrows Posted November 9, 2018 Super User Posted November 9, 2018 Yeah well he won’t have it for long, time flys, and mine is gone to but really it’s the grandpa on your mothers side that the hair gene comes from is what I hear, funny though because both my grandpas had hair ? Quote

I'm probably not the best person to ask because I haven't used many rods to compare it to, but I think it's pretty nice for the money. Not the most sensitive rod out there, but it's held up to a lot of heavy use, it's lightweight, and it's not too expensive. I am planning on getting a carbonlite 2.0 soon though. I need something for jerkbaits/flukes/shakey heads/etc. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted November 9, 2018 Super User Posted November 9, 2018 Nice going! Flukes will work when no other bait will sometimes. 1 Quote

I actually just switched to a lew's carbon fire (I got it for $45 on sale) and I would definitely recommend it if you can get it on sale, and if you haven't already bought a white bird. It just has better sensitivity, winn grips, etc. Quote
