Super User ChrisD46 Posted October 19, 2018 Super User Posted October 19, 2018 Strike King prides itself on the realistic "dying flutter" found with the design of the Red Eye Shad Lipless Crankbaits while either yo-yoing on the retrieve or just letting the lipless crank fall on a slack line to imitate a dying shad . With this said , a number of lipless cranks are ok on a steady retrieve - but few are designed to have that "dying flutter" on the fall which bass find so irresistible ! ... *Besides the Red Eye Shad - what other lipless cranks do you find to have that outstanding "dying flutter" on slack line ? Thanks in advance ... Quote
ratherbfishin1 Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 The booyah one knockers seem to do it well but nothing beats the RYS IMHO Quote

Super User WRB Posted October 19, 2018 Super User Posted October 19, 2018 Yo-Zuri 3DB Vibe Prizm Shad has been my go to lipless for fishing Shad schools and has excellent action on the fall. Tom 1 Quote

The red eye shad is my favorite vertical wiggler but I also like to throw a bait that will turn on its side and flutter erratically like rattle trapps and baits that will glide forward and rest nose down. It worth while to have these different action in your arsenal and to throw them and see what the fish want when on a lipless crankbait bite. When it comes to the vertical wiggle the RES is the best I have found. I agree, I have lipless cranks from several manufacturers. The RES is a great one! In addition, Spro's version, Arku Shad?, seems to work very well for me. It has a shimmy on the fall also. Quote

(great size for Fall) and the 1/2 oz. have the same similar vertical wiggle ? 9 hours ago, WRB said: Yo-Zuri 3DB Vibe Prizm Shad has been my go to lipless for fishing Shad schools and has excellent action on the fall. Super User smalljaw67 Posted October 20, 2018 Super User Posted October 20, 2018 The Sebile Flatt Shad has a slow wobble and glide on the fall. Now to be honest, I have not fished with any of the newer Flatt Shads but I can't imagine they are different. Sebile discontinued them and I purchased 3 dozen on clearance because it is that good and the way it falls is part of the reason. Now I will also say that my discontinued Xcalbur one knockers are also a favorite of mine, they don't fall like a RES but it seems to draw strikes from larger than average fish, at least for me. If you really want that fluttering type fall, I'd go with either a RES or a Flatt Shad with maybe a Rapala Rippin' Rap, that bait still falls fast like a regular trap but it does have a wobble to it. 1 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted October 21, 2018 Super User Posted October 21, 2018 In deeper water the RES is good, but it's fall rate is too quick for my liking in shallow water, The Super Spot and Diamond Shad work well for me on the fall, particularly in colder water. Adjusting the line diameter helps fine tuning the drop. Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted October 21, 2018 Super User Posted October 21, 2018 I prefer using Bill Lewis Rat-L-Traps and Cotton Cordel Super spots when fishing with lipless crankbaits. 1 Quote
Super User burrows Posted October 22, 2018 Super User Posted October 22, 2018 The best flutter on the fall is the red eye shad but is a more aggressive fall than the super spot res is more effective during the spring and spawn and prespawn but as soon as the fish become less aggressive like the dog days of summer or in cold water winter the super spot is more affective because of its buoyancy and less aggressive rattle. My favorite lipless is without a doubt the super spot. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 24, 2018 Global Moderator Posted October 24, 2018 RES Tungsten 2 Tap has been my best lift and drop bait. The Storm Arashi Vibe is a more subtle one that has worked well for me also. Not a fan of the Arashi lineup, but this one has been a winner. 1 Quote
RHuff Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 I've had success with the Live Target Golden Shiner and Silver Shiner. Quote
TBAG Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 I've always used the classic Rat L trap but picked up several RES this past weekend on a sale from Dicks. I don't throw lipless as much as billed crankbaits as they seem to pick up all the grass and weeds where I fish. Quote
DSTN Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 Haven't used either but have read that the Spro Aruku Shad and Duo Realis Vibration are both good on the fall. I personally use the RES and like how it works when using a lift and fall retrieve. Quote
Primus Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 x2 on the Duo Realis. The Rapala Rippin Rap glides on the fall as oppose to the RES wiggle but it is a very effective alternative especially in colder water. 1 Quote
zeth Posted October 27, 2018 Posted October 27, 2018 The only lipless I use is the Jackall TN. Sounds like you should order a few and take em to the pool. Quote
blckshirt98 Posted October 27, 2018 Posted October 27, 2018 If you're trying to specifically present a dying baitfish you could always just go with a Lake Fork Flutter Spoon. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted October 28, 2018 Super User Posted October 28, 2018 The bite didnt materialize for me this year but one of my favorite ways to fish is to work a Red Eye Dhad like a worm in deep water . I do it from a jon boat a lot and I can actually hear the bass hit it at times and feel nothing . Its crazy , hear the smack , jerk the rod and fish on . Quote

Super User iceintheveins Posted November 6, 2018 Super User Posted November 6, 2018 Savage gear fat vibe as well. The red eye shad is good too. Quote
